Do you guys think it's worth upgrading? I do love my laptop but it's old.

Can a 920/940 really compete? Paired with a 970m or something? Originally this laptop cost me 3.5k CAD. It would cost me 1k to do what I want to do. 500 more I could get an msi or Asus.

Go back and read though the several upgrade threads. There are a few cons on the people that have got the GPU upgraded to a newer card. Little stuff like the video out port wouldn't work. You will have to see if that is worth it to you are not.

Honesty I don't feel like reading through pages and pages of nothing. It's not a big deal to make a new thread. I would never use a video port anyways. This m15x has very low mileage

    Eso es en determinadas tarjetas.
La GTX970 funciona a la perfección.
Si le añades un procesador 920xm y una fuente de alimentación 240w, tienes un portátil espectacular.

Perdón por el idioma. No tengo tiempo de traducir.

I popped on a M290X and it's performance is monster, you WILL need a 920XM though.

AMD's driver has more overhead (CPU load) per instruction basically meaning a AMD card will cause more cpu usage than an nvidia card doing the same task. Probably why people here say the 680M delivers "smoother frames" than a M290X or 8970M despite it being faster.
Before I get roasted and told im wrong, here's a video from DigitalFoundry

Gameplay is smoother but no argument from me that in some instances the 7970M/8970M/M290X is faster, hard to see that in games though where nvidia usually beats AMD to optimise a game.
However the 680M can overclock like a bat out of hell! I was always scared to overclock my 7970M due to excessive temperatures even with a cooling mod.

680M is the better card IMO, just holds a price premium.

Idk, KOI just gave me $150 and said he'll deal with the claim.

I'm happy with that I guess since I just threw the card up on Ebay as untested and got $50 for it, so didn't lose anything really.

    Translated it for you.

"That is under certain cards .
    The GTX970 works perfectly .
If you add a 920XM processor and a 240W power supply , you have a spectacular notebook.

Sorry about the language. I have no time to translate." (TRANSLATED BY GOOGLE)

That is a big win for everyone here! Will offset new PSUs and mobo a little bit.
