    Hello,
I got my m15x about a year ago, the problem started few month ago,
my laptop freezes randomly for few seconds and continue working, special when I am using Skype, I tried to troubleshoot the problem, they only thing I noticed in the few seconds it freezes the cpu usages is 100% till it unfreezes.

I called dell, they replaced my motherboard, but that didn't fix the problem, it actually caused another problem, diagnostics show error 0322 now.
then they replaced my graphics card, and both problems still exist, they are going to replace my motherboard again.

I don't think that will fix the problem, anybody can help?

Open up task manager and check which process is hogging up resources during your spike. If you find which one it is you can go to cmd>>run>>msconfig and disable it from startup or if it's an unneeded program just uninstall it. You can also go to services and set it to start manually as oppose to automatic.

Another thing you can check is go to start>>run and type "perfmon.exe" without quotes

You can check what is happening during your spikes.

Report back and we can go further.

    Thanks for your response,
I will do perfmon, however I reinstalled windows as per Dell support requested, and still have the same problem. so I rolled out the unwanted program cause.

I will post the result of perfmon once i done it.

    thanks.

Well, I've ran perfmon and found out that Mcafee service Mcvhost is spiking my processor usage, I looked into it and disabling an option in Mcafee seems to solve the problem.

But i still have the problem that error 0322 appears when I run Dell diagnostics from boot menu.
Dell recently replaced my motherboard and LCD monitor too.

I don't know what to do, even the technician who replaced the items is confused and doesn't know what to do.

    anybody can help?

Dell error code 0322 means an error accessing the LCD inverter, which often manifests itself as an inability to adjust screen brightness. It can be a part or even motherboard failure, but is often caused by a loose connection. Google "Dell error code 0322." An example: Dell XPS M1530, Error Code 0322 and others - Tech Support Forum or Dell 1520 error code 0322 (screen inverter) - Laptop General Hardware Forum - Laptop - Dell Community. Given the recent replacements, I would first suspect a connection problem. Not unheard of after a Dell tech visit. :(

Well, it's late to update.... but here is what happened anyway,

Dell technician replaced my LCD monitor and motherboard again, when he tried to turn on the laptop it didn't respond then he plugged the AC power it worked, he ran the diagnostics it shown all tests passed. when he ran the ran the diagnostics again on battery only, the same error came up. suddenly he remembered that when running the diagnostics AC power should be plugged.

I can't describe my anger, when i realized that because of him, LCD and motherboard was replaced 3 times, anyway, the new LCD they replaced had dirt on it making 2 black spots. unfortunately i didn't see them till he left.

I called dell again, told them about LCD issue also i discovered that BR-DVD is not working anymore. they replaced both,

now another problem, "closing the lid" action is not working anymore. I showed it to the technician but he had no idea why.

if somebody have a solution for the lid problem i will be grateful.

The LCD AND motherboard were replaced 3 times or between the two it was three replacements? You may want to check your state (if you live in the US) lemon laws and consider using them.

Hi Guys, need help if I really have an issue or not...got a 2nd hand m15x and when I ran the diagnostics, it's giving me the 0322 error code from this thread. Weird thing is it only happens when I ran diagnostics when unplugged with the PS but when I'm plugged , it doesn't show me the error. Should i be concerned? thanks in advance

This is the Skype lockup issue. I also had this problem although with mine Skype remained operational while the rest of windows crashed. The only way round this issue is to roll back to an older version of Skype. This issue is widely known and surprisingly came about AFTER Microsoft bought Skype and released their first update for it. Ever since the issue remains with many systems.

I am sorry you now have other issues. Before consulting Dell and before they make a pigs ear out of your system it is best to do research on google!

@Cajun. Nope diagnostics should only be run when plugged in. Also is your system not functioning properly? If it is I suggest simply using it. Diagnostics should only be run if you have issues and no clue what could be wrong.
