    Hi everyone
I have an Alienware MX15 with a HL-DT-ST DVDRWBD CA10N slot load dvd burner/blue ray player. My computer no longer shows the burner in My Computer. It is shown in device manager but shows shows an error. I can't find the driver for this anywhere. It is not listed in my dell support page. I am running win7 64 bit. Can anyone tell me where to find this driver.
    Thanks
    Mike

You shouldn't need one. Can you see it when you go into the BIOS and can you boot from it? Try and boot from a Win7 DvD - does it work?

If yes you are probably looking at a problem caused by the install of another piece of software. Try to restore to a previous day or week using system restore.

When replying tell us what the error code (in device manager) is if you still have an issue.

    Thanks for the quick respnse

I can see the burner in the BIOS
I can boot from it using a win7 cd
I can not see it in Disk Management
I can not play another CD
I can't update the driver as it does not see any driver to update.
I have not loaded any other burning software. Presently using Nero.

Still trying to figure this one out.

Three different CD-DVD drives in three different AW computers here all use the same internal Windows driver. None are BlueRay drives, but I suspect the same applies to you but the driver has been disassociated or corrupted.

I assume from your post that no driver at all shows in Device Manager for your drive. If so, try removing the drive itself on the opening page of DM (right click on the drive and select Uninstall). Wait a moment, then click on Action (Menu bar) and then Scan for hardware changes. Hopefully, Windows will recognize the drive and install the internal driver.
