Did you reinstall with the drivers on the resource disk which fry the controller? If so then that should be covered as it's Dell's fault although it means a new motherboard :-/ If the lights got screwed up a different way then a full power drain (remove battery and AC, then hold power button for 20 sec to discharge capacitors) and then a reinstall with the correct drivers may help.

Yes. Reinstalled the drivers from the resource disk. And, that's when the lights failed. Tried the full power drain, and that didn't work. Been fighting with the help desk for 45 min now. They're trying to blame re-installing the OS for the failure. So, their saying no warranty cverage on this issue. Just going back and forth at this point. And, they guy won't put a supervisor on. On hold for the third time now. Each time the wait is taking longer and longer..

Since when does reinstalling Windows void your warranty? It is absurd and complete nonsense. Call another Dell technician for help as others suggested. The first one was giving wrong information to mislead people.

Well it all worked out of the most part. Dell sent a rep to replace the main board and screen. Web cam wasn't working so needed new screen it's a one piece deal. But funny part was after the tech left there was nearly 15 screws left on the table. How stupid was that. I wasnt worried but I could not believe the poor support. But it's working I will take it apart and fix the mess once I am sure it's all working

Voiding warranty for reinstalling the OS? And 15 screws left over......

I would have thrown that tech out of my house and done it myself. How bad is that?

And you actually do not need the screen replaced for a webcam. I have had my screen replaced once before and the tech actually forgot to transfer my camera over from the old unit. They could have just sent the camera.

They are all just a bunch of fail. I always have them send me the part if I ever need warranty repairs. I dont want to deal with them ruining my system.
