Well today my 260m fried on me and I need to replace it but I'm not sure what to get. Sorry if this topic has been posted before but I'm on an iPhone and everything is a pain to do on it. Now I'm not the most tech savvy but a friend of mine is going to install it for me. Id like a bit of an upgrade over what I had in the $200-$250 range if possible. Thanks in advance.

5850m is your best bet for something without issues (fan speeds / throttling)
if cuda is important to you then 460m

if you can stretch the budget and don't mind using 3rd party software to control fan speeds... then 6970m would be sweet. also recommend having the 9c battery or something to raise the laptop a little if going for this one.

all of these would be a massive upgrade over the 260m you had.

Thanks for the help. Where would I be able to purchase a 5850m?

I believe you can purchase it from Dell, Part Number for it is K6654. I'm not too sure if they still stock it though however. If all else fails you can try rjtech.com and ebay.
