    Hey guys,

I just had my laptop serviced. I got the motherboard replaced. I've had problems with the Indicator bar where the touch buttons and power button are located weren't functioning properly. After this service they don't function at all. I called Dell and asked them to send me the cable, they told me they couldn't just send the cable but they'd send the entire piece with with the cable attached, I agreed and waited. I recieved the replacement indicator bar but surprise no cable. I called in again told them that it wasn't in the package, they said they'd look into it. I was told that the cable is included in a motherboard replacement (it's not). I called back today, I was told that the case was escalated but no "line number" was found for this part. They told me they are not able to send me the part and I'd have to send in my laptop for servicing, I told them that's not going to happen unless they give me a replacement while it's being serviced, they of course denied the request.

Does anyone know how I can go about getting this little cable? I contacted a Dell Corp manager hoping to get some sort of support but I doubt that's going to happen.

    Thanks for the help.

Keep calling and explaining yourself to reps until you find one that will do it. It'll take awhile but there's got to be one there with some common sense that will help you out.

I was also having problems with my touch buttons after i had my mobo replaced however a powerdrain fixed it. YOu've probably done that already though.

where are you located? the little cable connecting the touch strip to the mobo right? I happen to have one, I can lend it to you in the mean time and when you get yours you can send it back to me.

I would really appreciate that, I live just outside of Toronto, Ontario Canada. Curious as to how you ended up with an extra one of those cables?

I called 4 times today, every time they tell me the part can't be ordered and I need to send it in, they tell me the case was escalated, I tell them why was is escalated if you can't get the part and of course they go into a incoherent Costa Rican ramble where I can't make out whatever the person is saying and I end up hanging up the phone.

There is no freakin' reason that they would not be able to request a damn part. They sent me a indicator/touch strip but no damn cable even though that exactly what I requested.

I emailed a couple of Dells Corp managers about this, hope to get a response. The last couple of people I dealt with bent over backwards to help me since tech support was useless.

Oh and for the love of god, if anyone in the GTA ever gets an agent from Unisys named Rashied DO NOT ALLOW HIM TO TOUCH YOUR SYSTEM, COMPLETELY CLUELESS AS TO WHAT HE WAS DOING, VIOLENTLY PULLED OUT MY HDD AND KEPT TOSSING AROUND THE LAPTOP.
