After replacing my old video card which is ATI 5730, I got my 6970 and just replaced it today.

The problem arose after I installed the driver which was recommended by the MXM-upgrade. The biggest screen resolution I have now only reach until 14xx x 9xx. My Screen resolution is actually 1920 x 1080

Does any of you guys know the problem I have here?

also I notice I cant open the catalyst control center which I believe that would help me to change the resolution as well. Please Let me know if you guys find something.

Triple post... seriously, the "edit" button isn't there for decoration.

All necessary information can be found in this monster thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...u-need-know-upgrading-problems-solutions.html
That's also the best place to ask such kind of questions.
Just right click on the desktop, screen resolution. Then for "Display" choose "1 mobile pc display" and below choose "show desktop only on 1". Then you can set the resolution to 1920x1080 or whatever you want.

Also the driver which I recommended on the mxm-upgrade article is outdated, I recommend uninstalling all AMD software and installing the mobility version of 11.9 which can be found on the AMD site.

    Hey svl7,

+rep for you but how to give rep? idk if i can give you rep power or not. lol

OMG sorry for the triple post. I am actually a noob when it comes to laptop and forum. Now it works like magic with only just your instruction. 1 question tho, I have installed the 11.9 but whenever I completed the installation and tried to open the ATI catalyst it says that the driver and the GPU is not compatible. I wonder if you know the problem.

Hmm, try the mobility mod from ader00 @guru3d, you can download it here: [email protected]

Should work flawlessly, just ignore the warnings during installation, it's modified and thus not WHQL certified.
