Hi, I've had my AW M15X for over 9 months now and I finally have the money to upgrade it. My CPU is Core i5 540m and my GPU is the GTX 260M. Could one of the i7 xxxm's fit into my laptop. Also, which is better?, ATI GPU or Nvidia line? My OP is W7Pro 64-bit, and I have the A09 Bios update installed. PS. my AW is not the Area 51 kind, it's just the regular AW M15X line.

depends how much you are willing to spend, but the top config at the moment would be the i7 940xm and 6990m.

however, i7 920xm and 6970m will also do nicely ;-)

you can find the 920/940xm on ebay from the users laptopmonkey or shirley

and you can find the 6970m on ebay from the user upgrademylaptop

i think those are the usernames... just search for those parts on ebay and sort by lowest price and you should find them ...

other things to look at (if you haven't already upgraded them), would be:

    - upgrade ram to 8GB 1333Mhz (cheap upgrade and worth it if you run a lot of apps at the same time)

    - upgrade hdd to a SSD or if you dont use your DVD/BluRay drive at all, swap it with a HDD caddy and run both SSD and normal HDD for mass storage. ;-)
