Hi guys, my m15x is getting a total replace.

I had the i7-720, so they will upgrade it to i7-740!

But i am curious if another CPU would be better.

    Here are the options:
    - Try to get 620M instead, maybe pay a little for this!
    - Try to take the cheapest i3, and replace manually with 920!
    - Keep i7-740!

What should i do? Why and why not?

Also, they replaced the graphic card (260gtx) with 5850, and gave me a Bluetooth card for free.

Well the choice of CPU should reflect on your needs for CPU power. If youre thinking of upgrading to a 920xm anyway, then let em put in a 740qm wich you can sell later on.

If you dont need a quadcore CPU and want, to keep the CPU after they replaced it go for the 620m.

Unless they will pay you too downgrade to an i3 CPU, i see no reason in choosing that one.

So let your needs guide you.

IMO the 740qm is a reasonable all-round CPU, so i would take that one, and keep it. But the again if you are thinking of upgrading to a 920xm anyway, then it's more or less unimportant wich one you take. In that case, think with your wallet! :)

Do you think i can sell 740QM? For how much and where?

Which will be better for gaming? 620M or 740QM? When will 740QM shine over the 620M and vice versa?

You can put the 740qm on Ebay.com.

Depends on what games you play. If they support muticore usage then the 740qm will be better. If you play old games like Counter-strike wich does'nt support multicore then go for the 640m.

If you even think you may want to upgrade the processor to the 920 I would definitely go with the 740 as you may have a higher return when you sell it. Ebay would be a great way to gauge the average selling price of the 740 currently. Good luck with your sale.

for gaming the 620-640 will be better, its a real beast. but for general usage then the 740 will be the way to go. but it all depends on your usage.
