    I have a M15x with a AMD radeon HD 6570M/5700 series, memory is 2772MB.
    My processor is a Intel core i3 CPU M370 @ 2,40GHz.

I really don't know much about upgrades or hardware.

I don't mind spending $250-$300. I would like to switch to Nvidia if possible.

Do I need to upgrade my processor in order to upgrade the graphics card?

I'm trying to upgrade my computer to where I can play World of Warcraft on high/ultra with at least 60 FPS.

    Any help is much appreciated!!

I'm going to be flat out honest here, and I apologize if it's blunt.

If you want to achieve high-ultra on WoW, you need a better computer. Tossing even $500 into the M15x won't get you far enough, as you'd most likely need a better GPU, CPU, and more RAM. A new video card alone won't bring you up that much, as you're most likely already bottlenecking on the CPU. Probably more like $1000 to get it up to speed, and for that price, you're better off with a new computer.

Where you want to aim for is nVidia 660m/750m or higher, as well as a top level i5, or mid level i7 and 4-6gb of memory. (WoW alone can use 3.6gb of memory on top settings.)

My rig with a 675mx, low level i7, and 8gb of RAM gets around 90 FPS in Shrine at High w/o AA or Sunshafts. 65 FPS in 25m raids.

    new 7970m=300 pounds
    new 920xm=200 pounds
    4gb extra ram=30ish pounds

by getting used items, could save around 100 on that.

all of this would allow you to play latest games on 1080p medium to high

Or very high if you run 3ghz overclock on CPU and use an "unleashed" PSU such as 210w PSU. I play far cry 3 almost maxed out now.

This ^^ Now it's up to you if you would like to invest that money on your machine or just get one of the newer platforms.

Are you on 900p or 1080p? If you are on 900p you could save yourself even more and get a 6970M. The 7970M is great but perhaps overkill for 900p reso. Then you save another 100$
