So I blindly bought the antec notebook cooler 200 because of the awesome reviews it was getting... Little did I know it would have close to no effect on the m15x because of the spacing of our fans...

That being said I have searched for some notebook fans on google that would be good with our m15x, but I have yet to find one. Closest review that sounded like it was good for us was the

    Anyone else got any recommendations?

Reason being on certain games my 6970m goes up to 86-88 degrees... Or is this normal? Am I just freaking out? lol

    Thanks guys!

You could try the NZXT Cryo LX. Fits up to the M17x.

Popular choice is the Cooler Master U3, but you only need two fans so the U2 would work for you. The U3 and U2 are identical notebook coolers but the U3 comes with three fans whereas the U2 only comes with two. The fans are adjustable so you can position them to wherever the hotspots are on the bottom of your m15x.

I have been looking all over the internet for some suggestion about the Antec 200 + M15x combination and here it was! Well, I guess I am gonna go with the SF-19 plus its aftermarket mods are feasible and make it better than any other cooler ever made :p

I own the Cooler master storm sf-19 and really like how it keeps temps down. On average its a 5C difference. Not much but temps are lower if I prop up the back of both the PC and the cooler... the SF 19 has usb 3.0 and cool lights!

I ditto this, the U2 will do great for your M15x. By the way, have you checked your temperatures lately? If you have really high temps on your M15x you may need more than a cooling pad to decrease those temps.

Your temps are pretty normal OP.

I have some tips though that will improve your cooling more than any notebook cooler. Those things tend to waste space.

1.) Get a 9 cell battery - This battery is a natural prop for the back of your laptop meaning you will immediately have a good inch of space under your fans with it. Plus you get up to 3 hours of battery with it. Yes that is with 920xm and 7970M and dual HDD and SSD running inside!

2.) Take off the backpanel and strip out the plastic/metal mesh covering the intake vents of the cpu and gpu fan and then cut away the plastic stips covering those vents using stanley knife. This will massively increase intake airflow meaning a lot more air can pass over those heatsinks. Yes a little more dust will enter in however a monthly clean out with compressed air will keep things nice and clean.

3.) Prop up the front of your laptop 1 cm or so (I use self sticking gel pads that stick by themselves, if they come off a quick wash with soap and they become sticky again!

4.) Use ICD diamond 24 as your thermal compound. It is excellent stuff.

Remember other tips are that it is really easy to remove the GPU fan without taking the GPU heasink out to clean it out however the cpu fan can only be removed with cpu heatsink so a re-paste of the cpu will be required upon fan removal of the cpu. If you notice an increase in temps after the above steps have been carried out then it is time to repaste away. Don't be overzealous with the stuff. A small tiny pea shaped amount in all that is required on either die of cpu/gpu.

Do this and you really won't need a cooler and you will find it won't make a big enough difference anyway to make it worth cluttering up your desk. Another thing worth pointing out is your can buy very very cheaply a xpresscard slot 2x usb 3 for your M15x which gives you 2 additional usb slots which are usb 3.0 to boot :)

    Have fun.
