both screens are nice, but 1080 will have a better resell value. gaming in 1080 and 900 pretty same thing i can hardly tell the difference. but screen real estate is real important to me so the 1080 is a must.
anyways i'll know he'll be back, sooner or later.![]()
and i totally agree with you about the M15x, best laptop i've ever owned.![]()

I don't personally watch HD movies on the laptop. Mostly through my xbox (through netflix) or PS3. Frankly, the screen is too small to appreciate any difference in video playback quality on a 900 vs 1080 screen. Plus I have a 6 cell battery, so it usually dies in 1.5 hrs without being plugged in - I don't even bother packing movies when I travel. -
As for the drivers, I currently don't have them installed, but it's a big FU to your consumer when you release drivers that don't work properly with the damn hardware you're selling!
Again no one's answered my question, is the touchpad multi touch support ?? -
the original driver does not have multi touch but there is a multi touch synaptics driver if your willing to search for it. but its still lame.
-
Thanks for the quick responses guys, I really appreciate it. Now I just have to wait on my next paycheck as I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy now that it's almost positive the 5850's are DDR5. I have a cousin that works in PR for Nvidia and she's gonna kill me when she finds out haha.
-
it's already confirmed 5850 is gddr5, someone already received a M15x 5850 version.
-
Someone once mentioned multi touch works quite well under linux...
-
yeah i heard the same thing. wanting to try ubuntu myself but need some help getting started.
-
Does every version of the synaptics driver cause that damn laggy sensation? I really want multi touch. It drastically increases my productivity.
Is the lag a hardware issue or simply just drivers suck? -
really bad drivers are to blame
-
Seems to be driver suck. Something to do with an extremely low polling rate for the mousepad.
-
but from what i hear the touchpad works amazingly well under linux. why i don't know.
-
AlienFX back and running! Love it
The tech changed my mobo, he was very cool and all. Though my bios is back on A03... I'll have to upgrade it to A05 soon! :O -
Great to hear Soccer! My replacement mobo came with A05 already. I guess they have non-flashed mobos still laying around? Kinda odd they don't come factory flashed already.
-
As for the M15x touchpad working under linux...I must say it's as smooth as my MacbookPro, though there's no multitouch. The funny thing is that M15x is even more fun to use under linux than under win7. Everything working without a glitch. You should try a live cd ubuntu distribution (no installation needed, it boots right into the OS without any harm to your win7 installed on hd) it will amaze you! -
Is there a way to access and write to the hidden restore partition?
-
your going to have to do a fresh install which you delete all partitions and then format the whole drive to get all access to the memory.
-
-
that too but if you've never done a fresh install i recommend it because when i did that it ran a lot better imo.

Speaking of lights...anyone's ALIENWARE logo lights under the LCD seem kind of dim. And...and...anyone's touch button colors seem off compared to the rest of the keyboard and zones? Especially the plasma purple, it's like bright pink on the touch buttons LOL.
-
Same purpul looks pinkish but I don't mind. Not a color a really use. Lol
-
Lol yeah I was just cycling through all my colors and I was like...WHAT pink?! I use all green anyway witha modified green AW wallpaper but still, it's weird. Inap what about your logo under the lcd, is it dimmer than everything else? Maybe my room is too bright.
-
Yeah the colors are always off and a bit dim compared to the keyboards but I think it's normal. But most the time I have that part off anyways. Hey I have a modified wallpaper too that red one. I made a green and a blue version of that. Lol
-
Inap. Yeah I got the glyphs one and made it green lol. Looks awesome when everything is green. Also made my browser and window bars (what ever they're called, you know the themes) green as well.
Oh and one more thing, the front grilles...awesome... -
Haha what's up bro. Yeah the mood in here change big time. I pm'ed the mods but no replies from them. Glad to see your back. So how's it been.
-
Tried to contact you through ms live but forgot my screen name. Hahaha I don't really care anymore if I get banned or not. Everything has been sucking anyways.
-
Really? Man, don't everyone leave... For the sake on being on topic, this laptop runs really cool. It's hot here in Sac and my GPU doesn't go above 60 when gaming.
-
Hahaha yes the cooling system is awesome. I love this place and especially the people. So I'll always be around but just can't chill here like before. So you live in sac now, man haven't been down there in ages.

-
...
Went to the gym after making my order, could´nt stop thinking about the damn laptop, lol!
Naa but fitness/bodybuilding is my hobby and in my Swedish High School I´m attending like a sports-program which lets me go to the gym and play floorball (like field hockey) during school hours (it´s in my schedule) which is really nice! High School over in Sweden is like College in the US, you don´t choose you classes, you choose a program.

. Not sure if it´s confirmed to have GDDR5, do you know for sure or is it still unclear? Read the thread about it but it´s not very clear to me :S
-
trust same feeling about the GDDR5 as the person who posted a screen shot 'disappeared' so im still not sure either.
-
Yeah I feel the same, I was kinda relieved when they said it was confirmed but now I have no idea what´s going on. Just have to wait and see...
-
@rasmusbjork; congratz dude! You're gonna love it
-
Doh, got some random corrupt boot file errors. I'm not too worried cos this install of windows has always been buggy, in particular it refused to remember my network passwords after sleeping/rebooting. I backed up the HDD on the desktop and am reinstalling windows now.
And Welcome back JStar -
yea its always good to reinstall windows when your getting those types of issues
