I have the ATI card, not nVidia. I haven't tried some of the suggestions, I guess i'll do it when I get home.

 

thanks pras, on my broadband card right now and still have same issue. M18x-3 is just a joke for the people that have been hyped up about the M18x rumors, hahha.

 

Played Mass Effect 2 on the weekend. ME2 runs perfectly on everything maxed out. The game seems to be locked at 60 fps, and I was consistently getting 60 fps. Looks gorgeous. I think I'll be playing this for a while. Was thinking playing DA-Origins first, but Mass Effect 2 took the cake.

 

yeah mass effect 2 is tha bomb, with excellent replay value too.

 

its just a really well made game. Its a perfect example on how a game can look gorgeous and run very well. It runs on the M11x on high.

 

Okay dells driver thing is driving me nuts! How do you download and install the damn dell driver download manager!!?? Want to update mu BIOS but can´t download it because of the stupid dell program...

 

hey razz, try the download from browser option, download manager sucks, and doesn't work for most people.

Just got my 5870 and Intel Centrino 6300.

I'll more than likely install it later in the week since i have an exam to cram for tomorrow >_<

As for the 5870, that bad boy is going to have to wait till i get some MX-3.

normal if you press download, an option will pop up and let you choose how to download it. try the link i listed above. hopefully it will just download it.

clear out your cache, then try again.

yeah, got bored and decide to upgrade. the paperclip it magical, it gave me 200+fps on all games, lol.

And Inap... how much better is the 6300? noticeable? I read that post you wrote about the weird random wifi slowdowns where internet browsing comes almost to a halt ( even loading google) not sure what causes this... but reseting the wifi ( turning it on n off with the touch button) fixes this... but yes it is a lil annoying EDIT: forgot to mention.. i get this too lol
Also lately.... every once n a while... after not shutting down my lappy for about a week usually ( just closing the lid) the keyboard stops working, and i gotta reboot to get functionality back. a little strange, nothing too serious though...

yeah i wasn't even on wifi, i was using a broadband card. somehow by installing the lan driver it working great again.

oh alright... well i get this randomly on WIFI ... and its limited to my M15x... cuz last time it happened i opened up IE on my old P4 computer and it loaded google instantly... whereas my M15x would take about5 mins... still not sure what causes this...

im going to go ahead and assume i've got to shutdown and restart my laptop more... as i've learned with past lappys and this one... the longer you don't....th emore buggy it gets!

 

yeah i had the issue at home on my wifi too, but seems to be much better now. still have to upgrade my internet speeds, so sloooooooow, jealous of all you guys with the super speeds.

also not much different from 5300 to 6300, just have a longer range, so i can still use my wifi when i'm chillin out side of my house.

 

that's what i like about this lappy is i can sit outside in a lawn chair and browse the internet and blast music from it so awesome.

 

Updated BIOS to A06 now ! The hard part was to download it haha, thanks again Inap, can´t rep you though :S.

Going to try play youtube videos in full screen now and see if my problem is fixed, said something like "the driver failed".

 

yeahhhhh the 5300 gives decent range... never had a problem with it... you can also go into settings and set the wifi network card roaming agressiveness and transmitting power to max.. giving you some extra meters of range.

a little off topic but... anyone see steve jobs showcase the iphone 4? what you think? im pretty sure im going to get me one come june 24th call me a sucker... but its just so god damn sexy .. and the lack of multi-tasking and teh crappy camera were always teh reasons i didnt get an iphone.. but as thats FINALLY a thing of the past... im all for it ( still no flash broswer if im not mistaken though right)

yea right now stuck with a crappy g modem but no reason as it doesn't exceed the max speed for g but that might change when I've moved.

 

A06 came out while my M15x was shipping, but Inap or someone should be able to tell you, I suck at this haha. But I know it´s supporting the new i7 processors .

 

Man just made the switch to an Android phone and I'm loving it, and flash lite should be available soon for non Apple phones.

yea J the bios is for some battery issues mainly plus adding support for the new quads tba in the coming months or they just randomly show up on the alienware site.

 

Yea Android is the best phone OS in my opinion... what phone you got? my contract just ended this month so im in the market for a new phone... i was looking at the sony ericson x10... but not sure i like how it looks...although i heard its an awesome fone...

lol good choice inap you going with at&t cause they have an unlimited download limit for $25 a month and you can tether without additional charges unlike verizon.

 

not 4 long. netflix on the iphone is the reason theyre removing the unlimited bandwidth limit. ( for obvious reasons)

 

awe now every cell provider is starting to charge royalties and gonna cost money its not so bad as my storm has unlimited but if i payed for tethering it would be another 50 each month on a capped 5gb LOL

 

no i'm using sprint, unlimited for $30 and 4g is coming next month in my area, yeah!!!!!

Listening to you guys moan about cell phone providers makes me want to tear ym hair out! Try living in Canada where an unlimited data plan really in 5gb and thats at the least 85 bucks a month on top of your plan!
