Unless you got 3-4 years warranty with that purchase, you overpaid by way too much. Especially since your system has a 5730.

Agreed. I paid $1645 for mine (and that's with a 5850 ) with free shipping and no tax. Of course I called a rep + the whole Military/EPP thing. :p

6GB RAM really pushes up the price...I got it since, in future, I can upgrade to 8GB RAM without having to buy 2 4GB SIMMS.

6GB only pushes it up $50 from 4gb ram. Don't know why you ended up paying that much. What state are you in?

Oops; I forgot to mention that I bought Office 2010 Home and Business with the lappy. That pushed up the price $200. Plus, Windows 7 Pro jacked up the price $100...

retail stuff has the cables an installation guide. oem is just the ssd which i say is better to buy as you don't waste money on a box full of paper and a cable. lol

    Hi all,

I'm a new and proud owner of one of this amazing notebooks. It's like nothing I've ever owned or seen before. You can see the specs on my signature.

I've had it for just 2 days, but I've tried a couple of games and performance was just great. Screen is very good too, although it's the 1600x900 one.

My 3dmark06 score is 12.000 dead (I made a screen cap as I couldn't believe either). I'm using 257.21 nvidia oficial drivers. Do you recommend me any other version, or this is just fine? I haven't had any problem so far, but if there are another drivers that performe better, I'd just make the change.

Edit: don't know why, but I just can't make the signature show (and the option to show it is activated). Mi specs are:

    i7 720QM - 4GB RAM DDR3 1333 - GTX260M 1GB - 500GB HD 7200rpm + WD 2,5" 1TB USB + Roccat Kone + Steelseries 5L + Sennheiser PC350

If standard 1600 memory does not work at 1600 in the M15x even with the BIOS change then I'm guessing XMP memory would. Otherwise why would Dell put it in the BIOS to begin with?

Very nice set-up! As far as drivers are concerned, you've got the best ones for benching. Personally I prefer the default ones (the ones Windows installs after you uninstall the nVidia drivers) for overall performance. Again, if benching is important to you, these are the best ones.

Tomorrow I'll have to call for service, in addition to dead pixels, the pc freezes for a few seconds every so often while playing, that's the trothling? also from time to time the system hangs, leaving the screen with strange artefacts, bars or strange colors, could be the card damaged? ill coment to them the trothling issue and see if I can get me to have an 5850 instead of 260m, what do you think?

Cold boot worked, I guess there was something wrong with the bios or something. I don't know if my taskbar will keep disappearing though :p
Am I the only one to have to open the command center every time I boot my lappy because some zone aren't lighted?

That sounds like a stealth mode issue. I was having trouble with that when I first started playing with my M15x, and I detached and reattached my touch strip, and then pressed the stealth mode spot really hard and it was at normal speeds.

It would good if in addition to these touch strips they also had function combination to do the same thing in the event of a bad touch strip connection or other problems with it.

Maybe this will shed some light.
