Unless you got 3-4 years warranty with that purchase, you overpaid by way too much. Especially since your system has a 5730.
-
Agreed. I paid $1645 for mine (and that's with a 5850 ) with free shipping and no tax. Of course I called a rep + the whole Military/EPP thing.
-
6GB RAM really pushes up the price...I got it since, in future, I can upgrade to 8GB RAM without having to buy 2 4GB SIMMS.
-
6GB only pushes it up $50 from 4gb ram. Don't know why you ended up paying that much. What state are you in?
-
Oops; I forgot to mention that I bought Office 2010 Home and Business with the lappy. That pushed up the price $200. Plus, Windows 7 Pro jacked up the price $100...

Sup guys! Are looking at to SSD´s and I´m wondering what the difference is between them, one is OEM and the other one not and which one would be the best buy?
Newegg.com - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2MH080G2R5 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Newegg.com - Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2M080G2XX 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD
-
get the oem and that is a good price dude get it!
-
Okay, can you tell me the difference between them? Noob at SSD´s
!?
-
retail stuff has the cables an installation guide. oem is just the ssd which i say is better to buy as you don't waste money on a box full of paper and a cable. lol
-
Ohh okay I see. But do I have to buy something extra to install it then?
-
the cable you need is attached to you current hd and the other is your os disk and all of your drivers on a flash stick
-
Okok! Just wondering if they are exactly the same model because can´t see the last two numbers in the product description, just say xx at the end on the OEM.
-
should be same thing, i bought the oem myself for much cheaper than retail version.
-
Okay thanks! Do you have any idea how much space that is going to be free on a 80gb SSD?
-
Hi all,
I'm a new and proud owner of one of this amazing notebooks. It's like nothing I've ever owned or seen before. You can see the specs on my signature.
I've had it for just 2 days, but I've tried a couple of games and performance was just great. Screen is very good too, although it's the 1600x900 one.
My 3dmark06 score is 12.000 dead (I made a screen cap as I couldn't believe either). I'm using 257.21 nvidia oficial drivers. Do you recommend me any other version, or this is just fine? I haven't had any problem so far, but if there are another drivers that performe better, I'd just make the change.
Edit: don't know why, but I just can't make the signature show (and the option to show it is activated). Mi specs are:
i7 720QM - 4GB RAM DDR3 1333 - GTX260M 1GB - 500GB HD 7200rpm + WD 2,5" 1TB USB + Roccat Kone + Steelseries 5L + Sennheiser PC350 -
No one tried this??
-
yeah people tried the 1600 ram but the M15x just down clock it to 1333.
-
Even when changing it to 1600 in the bios?
-
congrats on the new lappy. i'm not really up to date on the nvidia drivers, but someone will jump in soon enough, tuenkamen
-
yeah even when changing it in the bios, i haven't tested myself but a few have and thats what they reported.
-
hmmm, then know anyone who specifically tested the XMP memory I linked?
-
i don't remember the ram they used, it was awhile back. let me see if i can find those post.
but those looks sweet, would be awesome if they worked. -
If standard 1600 memory does not work at 1600 in the M15x even with the BIOS change then I'm guessing XMP memory would. Otherwise why would Dell put it in the BIOS to begin with?
-
yeah i find those post in was awhile back with bios A02, so things could of change, but i haven't heard of anyone using the 1600 ram at full speeds.
-
Ok, I'll give them a spin. I just think 1600Mhz (800x2) + CAS7 + the option to over-volt it equals......
-
lol well at least you have fire extinguisher on hand right?
-
yeah keep us posted on the results mandrake.
-
Very nice set-up! As far as drivers are concerned, you've got the best ones for benching. Personally I prefer the default ones (the ones Windows installs after you uninstall the nVidia drivers) for overall performance. Again, if benching is important to you, these are the best ones.
-
As far as I have read, those were the only ones tested at 1600 mHz so far (I've read of 4 people I think who tried them).
-
some very good tip there harry. btw guys i'm thinking of doing an osd mod for the stealth botton, was thinking of a huge FAIL popping up every time you turn on the stealth, hahhaha.
-
Ha ha ha! Now that would teach people not to turn on stealth mode!
-
Tomorrow I'll have to call for service, in addition to dead pixels, the pc freezes for a few seconds every so often while playing, that's the trothling? also from time to time the system hangs, leaving the screen with strange artefacts, bars or strange colors, could be the card damaged? ill coment to them the trothling issue and see if I can get me to have an 5850 instead of 260m, what do you think?
-
yeah gave it a try and see what they can do, use gpuz to confirm if it throttling.
-
yes, it downclocks...
ill tell it to the tech support and when the guy come to my house ill show him this, and look after a card change to ati card
-
but when gaming with some games like modern warfare the issue i feel is the random freezes, is that the trothling?
-
By the way, I ran 3dMark06 yesterday, and scored almost 10,000! How can that be when it's normally just above 7,000 (PhysX was off)?
-
could be a driver problem causing the freezing.
level 10,000 wow you got an ss 240,lol. what setting were you using harry. either way i can't recall a 240 stock 06 run, hahah. -
maybe, i have 57.21, installed with the save mode of windows
-
Jeez, my laptop has been horrible lastly.. I tried to play some counter-strike and I cant even play it properly, my GPU clocks are at 120/200, even though I set them to 675/1150...
Urrgh... -
call tech service like me bro
-
Ugh, and now I can even overclock my card >.>
Also meh, calling the techs will result in a two hours mess with a rather incompetent tech..
EDIT: Currently downloading 257.21, hopefully that .06 will help
-
too many issues for you lately soccer, probably time to get it serviced.
-
I agree, Inap. If I remember well, Thierry, you didn't have any of these issues before you updated the BIOS, is that correct?
-
Still getting used to the M15X- I'm rather pleased with it's capabilities compared to the XPS 1640.
-
I dont think so.. I havent been playing in a long time so I couldnt tell..
But man, just installed the new driver, my clocks are still running at 120/200, even when I'm gaming, this is ridiculous..
Cold boot time I guess >.> -
Cold boot worked, I guess there was something wrong with the bios or something. I don't know if my taskbar will keep disappearing though
Am I the only one to have to open the command center every time I boot my lappy because some zone aren't lighted? -
That sounds like a stealth mode issue. I was having trouble with that when I first started playing with my M15x, and I detached and reattached my touch strip, and then pressed the stealth mode spot really hard and it was at normal speeds.
It would good if in addition to these touch strips they also had function combination to do the same thing in the event of a bad touch strip connection or other problems with it. -
Yeah, that's what I am wondering as well. It was 9,995 and I don't understand why, honestly. I don't know about the settings, as I never change anything.

Maybe this will shed some light.
I had been trying some different drivers, but I ran the bench with my normal drivers. -
