I freaking hate steam. They email me all these great offers only to tell me that the offer isnt available on Puerto Rico...
-
Well if you trust someone on here you can always pay them and they can gift it to ya...
I think =x -
Btw what games are you buying on Steam, I'm looking for new stuff too..
And yesterday was the first of my 3 epic party, went well, ended up sleeping in my friend's backyard for 4 hours before I got to work 10 hours >.> -
It just dominates the 1640...lol
So what's your verdict of the touchpad out if the box? -
That's amazing!
Even though it's meaningless, you just have to get a SSD to break 7's across the board.
Congrats -
Thanks.
I wouldn't mind an SSD. -
Haven't fired it up yet but I'm curious to see how Crysis looks on the lappy.
-
Hehe, I got Grid for 5 bucks, I just couldn't miss that deal!
Also I'm looking for a new phone, what are you guys thinking about the HTC Legend? :O -
A classmate has the HTC Evo 4G, and I like that phone. I have an LG enV 2, which is a capable 'dumb phone'.
I just spent the last of the money I allotted myself for bigger ticket items while I'm here- I bought the Canon EOS Rebel T1i w/standard lens kit for $600, no tax or shipping. -
I've just found a 500gb 7200rpm hard drive from Amazon
Would this be compatible with the M15x as I'm planning on replacing the current 250gb one? -
-
-
Hey guys, have some problems with my M15x!
1st: When connecting for example an iPhone or iPad to the usb port on the left side it doesn´t recognize the device so can only use the one on the right side.
2nd: When starting the computer it wants to do a disk check and that´s nice but, it doesn´t start :S. Just counts down to 1 and stop, nothing happens. Is it possible to do it yourself while you are using your computer?
Razzz -
Well, my iPhone works nicely from any USB. Have you tried connecting anything else to that USB.
-
Does anyone know if there was a sale for Modern Warfare 2, or will be one?
My copy finally arrived after being hostage for a month in chinese customs, the day after I left Shanghai. Now my friend has to send it to me haha -
just applied MX-3 on both my cpu and gpu and from the looks the gpu has better temps on futuremark by 3c instead of 82c ran oced and stock topped out at 79c. if you need to see screen shots lemme know i did take those but im too lazy to post lol.
-
wow nice!!! waiting on my new gpu, probably try out some new paste too just to see if there is any real difference.
-
Ohyeah the previous futuremark test was run on A05 so i don't know the difference actually on A06 but its still a drop and the cpu vent blows cold air LOLOLOL
-
At what temps should you be worried about your CPU/GPU? I just ask because I unparked my cores and while playing wow a few minutes ago I was at 79-81.. What is the max safe temp it can be?
-
Your 720 should be running much cooler then that ... You might want to look into reapplying thermal paste or making sure your fans are not clogged with dust etc.....
My i7 820 for example under 100% load in prime95 is 70-72 max after about an hour ... In WOW your temps should never be spiking that high...
You might also want to prop up the back end of the machine if you dont have a 9 cell battery so it gets plenty of air... -
Anyone have any idea how to disable the evil CAPS LOCK key...?
Edit.
My CPU temps are around 58C at idle. Its currently 82F with 94% humidity? Are those temps normal? My machine also has a jewel case on both sides to elevate the back. -
With WASAPI output in Foobar and XMPlayer, the audio problems seem to have gone (as in, both the crackling and low quality output). Interestingly, when audio crackling starts to occur when AlienFX lights are off, my touch bar will be pink rather than red. Then, enabling AlienFX stops the audio crackling. Which would, to me, indicate a power distribution problem. I'm not a hardware expert, so I'm not going to try and put the blame on a component, but something is definitely not right.
Either way, both problems are gone and I couldn't be happier.
As Tuenkamen asked:
With XMPlay, you need to enable the exclusive mode of WASAPI to get the best quality output. Doing so will stop other applications from using the same audio output device when XMPlay is open, so beware of this.
1. Download XMPlay or Foobar (I personally prefer XMPlayer for the sound output, but either one is fine) from here:
http://uk.un4seen.com/files/xmplay35.zip <- XMPlay
Download foobar2000 and optional components <- Foobar
XMPlay is in Zip format so will need to be extracted. All of the files in the archive need to go into the same folder (folder can be anywhere). Foobar is installed through an installer, so just leave all the settings as default.
2. Download the appropriate WASAPI plug-in:
XMPlay: http://us2.un4seen.com/files/xmp-wasapi.zip or http://uk.un4seen.com/files/xmp-wasapi.zip
Foobar: foobar2000: Components Repository - WASAPI output support
The XMPlay WASAPI plugin needs to go into the same folder as XMPlay.exe. The Foobar plugin, assuming it was installed to the default location, will be: C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000\components.
3. In XMPlay, Open up the settings by clicking on the spanner icon in the main window. Then, click on the 'Output' tab in the menu on the left, and change the device to 'WASAPI - Speakers/Headphones (IDT High Definition Audio Codec)', like so:
Then, in the selection that came from Output, click on the WASAPI tab on the left side, and enable 'Exclusive mode'. And remember to apply the changes:
In Foobar, go to File -> Preferences -> Playback -> Output -> Output Device
Then, in the drop down box select: WASAPI: Speakers/Headphones (IDT High definition Audio CODEC), like so:
Remember to apply the changes.
After these steps, the audio should sound much better. However, Foobar does not have an exclusive mode, which limits the sound quality gain.
The reason that exclusive mode works is because it feeds audio straight to the adapter, not allowing signal processing. Thus, what you get output is a bit-perfect unmixed audio stream.
I'm using Nvidia 257.15 Graphics drivers and the M17x IDT audio drivers found here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m15x/494095-updated-audio-driver-6261-a03-m17xr2.html
P.S. If you want to hear the quality difference, if you have XMPlay (not sure if it works for Foobar, as I don't use it as much) you can select the default output, apply that, then switch to the WASAPI output, and apply that. You should hear a lot of difference in heavier parts (such as when guitars are played alongside drums). If you listen to mostly classical music, it is not going to make much difference.
Also, I'm a semi-audiophile, so the results may not please you as much as they did me, or they may not please you at all. Getting perfect output gives me the ability to fine-tune my entire system to my requirements, so you might find it flat or annoying, in which case, just change the output source, and voila, all is normal.
Hope this helps. -
can you please show the steps for this and also are you using IDT and what video drivers are you using
-
if you could post the steps, that would be very helpful to others having the same problem. + rep great work.
-
-
could this be done on winamp
-
WASAPI drivers for Winamp seem few and far between, and they aren't developed further than a few versions. There seems to be little plugin support for Winamp, based around direct-to-card (ASIO, WASAPI etc) 'drivers'. I'll have a look and see if I can find one that works (So far I've tried Maiko and Adion WASAPI drivers, and neither work, as well as the Otachan ASIO).
-
well i like how lite this is so im gonna stick with XMplayer and it seems to be working well so far thank you very much for this
-
Should I post the guide in a seperate topic? I mean, here it is likely to get buried. Anyway, glad I helped
If I see any new development, I'll post it asap.
Just thought I should mention that if you use it on exclusive mode, any applications you open that would use sound, like watching videos in your browser, will have to be restarted to get sound (and you'll have to exit from XMPlay. So if you watch videos on the internet, you might want to make your browser save your tabs when exiting). -
nevermind stupid question lol i can't read properly sometimes i read stuff too fast lol.
-
yeah i think posting this in a seperate topic is a good idea, some poeple just never read the owners threads.
-
also since i listen to music and play rst alot disabling exclusive mode will allow to listen to music and the in game sound at the same time?
-
To those that that tried to OC the CPU using my instructions before:
Another user lozz had issues getting setfsb to recognize his system. At first we thought it was because Dell had different PLL's. Turns out that was wrong. If you have your windows font size set to default (the way AW ships it), setfsb won't work properly. Reduce it down to 100% (normal) and setfsb will work fine on your systems. Use the method I outlined in a previous post and you should be able to OC the BCLK in your non-extreme processors. Keep in mind the registers I posted are for the 940xm, so they are not guaranteed to work for you. Lozz has a 720QM so he'll be working out the registers for non-extreme CPU's. For further information, look here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/6387359-post3271.html
P.S. if what I wrote makes no sense to some, then ignore it since it doesn't apply to you. -
awesome Joker will wait on Lozz to get more info on that thank you very much can't wait to oc mine once someone has a working oc on a non extreme cpu.
-
1. Without playing any music at the time (must be stopped, not paused) load up the game then Alt+Tab out and disable exclusive mode.
2. Disable exclusive mode before loading the game up. -
-
No problem
.
5150Joker, I changed the font size to 100%, and now SetFSB works. Problem is that the clock generator Lozz is using (ICS9LPRS365BGLF) does not work with (at least) my M15x. The only clock generator that works is ICS932S401EGLF. It produces the numbers fine, just it will not allow you to adjust them (00h can be adjusted, as can 0C and 0F, 10 however, cannot shift from 20. Clicking update works, when you go to apply, it reverts back to 20).
So for now I'm just going to leave it and hope that something turns up. -
Thanks for that bit of info. If you'd like to continue testing that would be great since I don't have an M15x handy. -
I'll do some more work on it today (1:44am atm) after work.
-
Has anyone here bought this?
Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model KHX1600C7S3K2/4GX
I was wondering if you set your memory speed in your bios to 1600 are you getting CAS7? Seems like that would be some toasty sticks. -
I sent Abo a donation and got his latest SetFSB. The Asus G73 PLL works for the M17x. You may want to visit his page, donate and give the latest SetFSB a shot. It may work for the M15x as well and you wont' have to mess with registers. -
Boy, problems with my computer are getting weirder. I can't even shut it down without seeing it restart right after!
I just tried twice to shut down my lappy and it keeps rebooting O_O
Maybe it wants to tell me something :O -
battery pull plus bios battery unplugged.
also the latest sound fix by hobgoblinpie has allowed me to go back to the 197.45 drivers woot. no sound problems anymore -
Still weird issue.. I think I'm gonna call dell just to tell 'em my M15x is weird.. That plus my taskbar problems.. -
Where do new owners like myself get our membership card?
I just bought an M15X for about $2000 after all discounts (EPP, et al)! Specs in sig! (I only got the HD 5730 since I do most of my gaming on the Xbox 360)
I'm very stoked for it to arrive!! -
-
Sorry I just really hate seeing these beast underpowered. -
Not really... I got about a 15% discount, without using a rep, using EPP plus $100 off and free shipping coupons. That's also inclusive of the Razer Orochi.
