wow nice congrats uber!!!! quad has the driver with the fix, i'm sure he will posted it any second now.

Download Driver sweeper from Guru3d and install it, then uninstall the current drivers you have through add/remove programs , after that reboot but into safe mode and run Driver Sweeper and have it scan and Clean ATI drivers.... Reboot and install the 10.6s ...
When installing the 10.6s pick custom install and see if it finds your GPU and if its does your good to go but if not you need to edit the installer.cfg in the config directory in the 10.6 drivers with notepad... find the line that says Workaroundinstall=false and change it to True... Then run the ATI installer again and choose custom again and see if it will install the graphics drivers this time... -

So after the pathetic replacement i got my laptop working.
Only thing that bothers the hell out of me is the fact that my keyboard's right side is all dull in compared to the rest. I've power drained and switched keyboards with the replacement and still got that wierd dull area on the right side. It was never like that before... do you guys think it might be the motherboard? -
Yeah you may have to swap motherboards to(connector is probably bad on the motherboard for the keyboard had the issue on an M17x)
... That service tag is tied to the motherboard though so you may have to call someone before you even bother with all this...
You might just want to call them and have them issue yet another system as sad as that sounds because there are just to many issues and differences between the 2 machines... -
i had that when i got the keyboard replacement, but it went away by itself.
-
Its always something with these machines lol... Love the warranties though...

Thanks for updating the New Owners' Thread, Wattos! +rep
Also, sorry for the late response, but thank you very much, Quadzilla! Your steps solved the problem; Catalyst was operating off of Dell drivers instead of the correct ATI drivers. +rep
This laptop really is an awesome beast. After about 4 hours of continuous (albeit low-demand use), it has heated up only slightly, running from AC. I still want to shut it down now, though... -
I'm going to deal with it for now and just complain about the replacement they sent being a total downgrade in comparison to my current laptop. I'll see if they send me another one. Thanks everyone for the input. It's peace of mind so far until i complain about the replacement they sent.
I've just left the replacement alone and only took the part that i knew was screwed up, the touch panel assembly.
Jeez, the things i do to get this baby running. XD -
-
so is the big cursor problem still there with the 10.6 drivers?
-
I'm just going to deal with it for now. Thanks for all the help everyone!
Also, in regards to the 10.6 drivers, Is there a reason to use 10.6 over any of the older ones?
I'm currently using 10.3 and i have no cursor problems. -

and just remember:
anytime you re-intall Comand Ceneter and the keyboard drivers...
You most prob have to do a repair installation right after installing it.. shutdown...and do a bios reset to get it working...well at least for me anyways..there wasnt 1 time that it worked right away. -
Could anyone who has this (inap) re-upload this somewhere? Thanks.

here you go;
Download Revised.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
i ask wattos to post this on the new owners page but i guess he missed it. -
I put it up. Can you just tell me the path where to extract the pictures to (I dont have the OSD app installed) and who the author is so I can give proper credits -
i posted all the info on the owner in the next to last page of the new owners thread, sorry didn't want to sound mean bro. i should of pm'ed you but thought you were going to read the thread, my bad. the directory should be
c/program files/osd/icons. also maybe good idea to tell people to back up their old one just incase they don't like it. -
.
Anyways, thanks for the info, I guess I kind of forgot to post that after I have read it in that thread. Its there now
I wonder if new owners even read that thread... -
i find the newest OSD on the dell website is good enough.. never tried that one though.. is it that much better?
-
you can just dl it and open it up, it just jpeg so you can preview it all before installing, and thanks wattos, man i can never figure out when you are kidding around bro, always so serious, hahahaha
-
Also, thanks to inap for uploading the file. +rep. -
Bleh, bored, what is up fellow M15x owners?
-
sad world cup result the octopus was not wrong
-
Ahah, same here, I hated spain with passion since they came in as favorite and played like a bunch of teenage girls.. While Netherlands was MY team from the beginning..
Anyways, gotta live with it, the reffing was quite horrible, but I won't start it again
in other news, I realized that the only way I could maintain good performance GPU-wise, is to stay at the stock clocksSucks..
-
I didn't care which team won between Spain and the Netherlands, but at the same time I wanted Spain to win because I like the octopus. -
Never got throttleStop, I gotta download it soon or later, but I dont have muc time in my hand lately with my job and my girlfriend..
Anyways, just took a look at the Phenom hexacore, they look pretty sweet for the price asked! :O -
hi guys, just wondering if anyone could tell me what are the best most optimal settings for the GTX 260M in the 'Manage 3D Settings' section of the Nvidia control panel? Drivers using are Nvidia's own 197.16.
At the moment they are just at the default settings:
Ambient Occlusion: Off
Anisotropic filtering: Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Gamma correction: On
Antialiasing - Mode: Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Setting: Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency: Off
Extension limit: Off
Maximum pre-rendered frames:3
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Multiple display performance mode
Power management mode: Prefer maximum performance
Texture filtering - Anisptropic sample opti..: Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD bias: Allow
Texture filtering - Quality: Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimisation: On
Threaded optimisation: Auto
Triple buffering: Off
Vertical sync: Use the 3D application setting
I bet people are gonna say to keep them at default now i've spent the time typing that little lot in -
Best settings will always depend on what your doing. In NST there should be profiles already setup for different games and these settings change based on the profile.
-
leave them default, and just change them in-game ... LOLL sorry
-
and SoccerT ... I'm italian (yea italy blows this year.. didn't think they'd go far... but there was no excuse not to make it out of their EASY group stage... what an embarrassment) but i chose Spain to win it from the begining
should've put money on it.
-
Whatup gang... was gonna buy a 5870 from babyhemi this weekend but went on a mini vacation and saw deadmau5 in kelowna instead and blew all my money on 4 dollar water bottles hahahaha. Now im broke and have to wait til next friday to order it! drats.
-
Yeaaaa boiiii.... i think you and me can get along.... so you into that kinda music huh
.... then all i can say is its worth every penny
-
So my friend just offered me his i7 720 and 300$ for my i7 820... i told him hes stupid, as he wont see any diffrence in performance... but hes been wanting my 820 since the day i got it... so i went for it! (hes loaded, and i told him why not just got for the xtreme processors). Hey he insisted!
Gonna do the swap tonite -
what??? thats so funny. do it now then sell me your 720 for cheap. hahahhaha
-
-
just finished the swap
wasn't so bad... and honestly.. don't notice the diff.
i felt too bad so after alot of convincing i insisted he only give me 250
now to update my sig...lol
so if i were to sell my 720, id get what... 400? plus 250... thats 650.... how much is the new 940? like twice that much no? NIce. im halfway there.. LOL -
OEM 720s go for about $225 on average.... Sometimes cheaper...
I think you should ask for that $50 extra back....
-
i was think of buying dtran 820, but hey you can buy it. and have a 720 to sell for extra dough.
-
anyways he's my good friend that runs autocad alot.. he needs the 820 more than i do... and i felt like i was ripping him off to begin with
