I'm saying buy one from dell. You will get warranty plus they will install it for you too.

Unfortunately I can't, bro. I have to order from Dell Panama and have it sent to Margarita Island. That comes out a lot more expensive then buying it here. Anyway, I will probably have the Dell tech build it in there for me so I'll keep the warranty. If I can find an Nvidia card everything is good, because it will be warranted by Dell. If it is an ATI card everything will be covered except the card, but that will be covered by the place I bought the card, so I'm not worried about warranty.
Don't worry about it, bro. It'll all work out in the end. I'm sure my baby will be up and running in the couple of days. With my luck the tech will show up with a suitcase full of 240 cards because no one wants the buy the damn things, ha ha ha!

    Thanks man. Appreciate it.
I've only had great experiences with Dell customer care, so I'm sure they'll fix it for me.
I'll be looking around for the cards that are on the market here as an upgrade, unless Dell decides to upgrade it for me, of course.

Well, bro, I'm gonna call it a night. Have a great evening, Inap. I hope you can squeeze some more fraps in tonight!

    See all you fellows tomorrow!

hey! my m15x died too, doesn't power up at all with the batt/AC in. and the AC jack's blue light goes off whenever i plug it into the laptop, with or without the battery.

tried the discharging trick but didn't work, anyone have any ideas? otherwise, i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the dell tech can fix it by tmr

btw, do u guys know if its possible to purchase more warranty just before your current one expires? (i'm covered for the 1 year warranty till nov, thinking of getting 2 more years nearing the expiry.. under Dell USA)

Thanks inap. I didn't get the 1080p because I thought in the long term I can get better FPS from games with 900p and my eyes may not be able to stand 1080p lol. I thought about crippling ram and some other parts for 920XM (you got it!!) but still I couldn't have enough money for that. I think I'm going to use this setup a for a very long time then start replacing parts myself. The only negative point is 8GB limitation :/

hahahah geez, 8gb ram is not enough. man times have changed.lolz. don't worry the 8gb will last you a very long time. i just got it because i found a great deal on them. otherwise i would of just stuck with 4gb. i'm using the 1080 screen with no problem and i have a stigmatism. but 900 is great also. great choice going with the advance warranty.

Man, J, this is a great deal! Just jump on it and save some of your less important stuff on an SSD-card or an external drive. You don't need to have everything on your computer, dude, and 160G gets you an awful lot of goodies on there with the highest speed possible. What are you waiting for, J? Get it already! :D ;)

when the tech came to my house, he was trying to sell me the job practically lol. said he got 45$ a visit, and he would get booked for 10-12 visists a day, from 9am to 9pm. Thats like $450+ a day!

He said all i gotta do is take an online test, and if you know your stuff you don't even got to pay for teh course. Once you pass the test you get your license, and you can start working for companies like dell, hp, acer etcc. And you have your own schedule and you're on-call. He was trying to recruit me cuz he was amazed that i knew more bout my laptop than he did. After all he did say it was the first time he ever saw an ALienware LOL. From that point on, i knew there was no way he was touching my baby. And he was literally taking notes on what i was doing. Like the paste applying. HE said he usually put five dots (one in each corner and one in the middle), and was surprized to see me put one big drop in the middle, and spread it out with a glove.

Anyways he actually got me thinking bout going for it. Might be pretty cool, and the money is good. Only downside is that you have to drive using your own car and gas, and that you might have to drive across teh city a few times to go meet all your clients.

I was just thinking about all the splifs i'd be smoking on that job, LOL. Would be awesome.

Thats weird but interesting. Field technical person usually doesn't have much information, thats correct. However it depends on person too, one can be extremely experienced and trying to learn more(cause of personal interests) or he/she may be just after the money and doesn't even care if he/she is doing right or wrong.

yea well most people would call me crazy but i turned it down.

I'm going to stick with my initial plan, and NOT get an ssd right now, and wait 6months-1year for newer, cheaper tech to come out, so maybe i can get an ultrafast 256gb Sandforce 1200 drive for 300$. That's what i'm going for. The tech is too new IMO and i spend about 20mins calculating how to allocate the space in a 160gb drive, and it turns out i'm left with about 20gbs free. I dunno but i want some breathing room, and i HATE worrying about how much space i have left. 256gb is actually a comprimise for me, but is actually as low as i would go. The only affordable 256gb ssd drive right now is the Samsung PB22J drive.. at about 375 used or 500 new, but performance isn't great compared to the intel g2..which is already becoming old tech as the new SF-1200 drives crush it.

So i'm going to stick with my not-so-slow HDD for the time being (since i don't knwo any better as i haven't gotten used to using a system with an ssd yet :p) , and live with the extra 20-30 secs it takes to load up win7 ( which is actually quick because i always set it to not launch any apps upon start-up). :)

At least i'll have something to look forward to down the road, and it'll feel like i'm getting a totally new processor once i slap an SSD in here and all the apps snap open. :D Can't wait.

What driver is everyone using for the 260? I'm getting around 30fps with 8.15.11.8647 with everyone on ultra and 1600x900 res but a few times it'll slow down and dip into the 18-20's.. seems like I should be getting more. Stealth is also off

    @ Steelcurtain:

you're talking about Starcraft II? I wouldn't be complainging with those FPS! Those seem about right for the gtx 260m. And as i don't use the 260 anymore, i wouldn't be able to tell you ... but i used to use 197.45 which were real solid, as they were designed for the desktop version of the card. But they released newer 25x.xx drivers on nvidia, i don't know what they r called exactly cuz i havent really been following nvidia now that i got an ati. But i'd try out the latest ones on nvidia.com.

And it seems like Physx is doing you real good with those frames, as you wil notice in the graphic settings there are alot of physics-based graphics settings.

I'm getting 40-50fps avrg while on Ultra 1080p and mouse smoothening. Lowest dip so far is 28, and highest is like 70 something. :D And that's with my 5870m stock! I'm friggin loving how this card rips through everything :D

EDIT: WOAHHH Soccertheirry... 80fps? Settings aren't maxed im guessing?

The 197.45 are still the best. Be careful not to download the latest drivers from the Nvidia site, they suck!

Bro i'm hooked! The game just looks awesome! And the story is good too! Lots of character development and and and... well lets just say i usually don't play strategy games...and liek i said... im hooked. LOL

Definately give this game a try. A MUST HAVE in every gamer ( and non gamer, since i barely even play games anymore) game collection. Do yourself a favor, and buy this game ASAP. Blizzard has done it again. Only 5 star releases it seems :p

I can only imagine how Diablo III is going to change the RPG standard :p. As Starcraft II Defiantely up'd the Strategy game standard, tenfold!

This game is just awesome. The campaign feels like im playing/watching a movie.

Honestly I'm really impressed ( as you probably noticed) I had low expectations and im blown away. Now i know what all the hype was about...geeze louise, i should've jumped on the beta!

Now i'm going back to playing the campaign! See ya! :D

Yeah, thats the one I have, it's great.
The installation is very simple, just run the setup.exe and it'll install it for you.
After the installation run a CCleaner scan and it should be top notch!
