    915 on GPU...
If he didn't flash his GPU, then, he would be the luckiest 5850 owner ever.

In all seriousness, yes I flashed my GPU to 1.15v and 800/1200

Quick question guys, my i7-840QM is rated to run at 1.86GHz but in HWiNFO it shows my processor (all four cores) performing at around 2.9GHz. What's the deal? Turbo mode only kicks in when other cores are idle, right? Why would all four be performing so high?

It's a reporting anomaly which occurs when the power plan is set to High Performance. You see the same effect in CPU-Z and eLeet. The author of HWInfo32 is seeking a workaround, but isn't there yet.

Give ThrottleStop a try. It shows the average multiplier for each thread and follows the Intel recommended method for reporting these CPUs as listed in their November 2008 Intel Turbo White Paper. When your CPU is idle, ThrottleStop won't be showing you that all 8 threads are at full turbo because they are not. On an i7-840QM at idle, none of the cores or threads are.

With the 920 clocking that hard (19K+), hard to get enough power to get 10K from the graphics system. That's mostly for the lower-powered processors that can't overclock. Need a Mandrake cooling system.

Edit: just noticed your GPU temps. How did you keep it that cool with 940/1100 clocks? Have you gotten yourself a portable a/c?

yeah using my companies ac unit, lolz super great temps.

here is newest bench:strange thing is i oc'ed my cpu higher but my cpu scored dropped. i think i can get it higher if i can change the affinity for vantage. i think 10k gpu for 5850 could be possible if only i know all of mandrake little tricks.

It might do something up where you're operating. Those 5850's hit a sweet spot. My 5850 is faster than the 5870 in my 8760 too.

I mean.. Really? Are you running a turbo jet engine as an AC right below your notebook or in a refrigirator or somethin like that?

Sorry for spelling I'm still in shock o.o

Yeah, this is what I meant when I said no difference between my 5870 and my 5850. I was really surprised that it was able to get to 950, this card is really a beast.

I'm still shocked about 950. You know the stock one is 625.. What are you doing replacing thermal paste every very second? :D
If you can get to 950 with 5850, what can you do with 5870, 1250+?? I don't know man, this is so strange..

no its not like that. i'm really surprised because 950 was the max i can get the 5870 stable enough to pass a bench. so the 5850 hitting the same clocks is really amazing.

I did some Resident Evil 5 benches with a medium OC of 620/950/1650. I did a DX10 and DX9 comparison and got only 4fps difference.

No.... Someone beat my 5850 score. Back to benching for me. :D

Lol wut. I get a lower score @ 950 than when I run it @ 920. o_O Almost got a 970 and 960 score, but it crashed a little before New Calico ended. D:

Still got a higher combined score out of this though.

That's how u know you've reached the limit of your gpu :p ... I would stay at 920ish and play with the mem clocks now... As ur core is maxed out... Also, I'm assuming u flashed ur gpu alrdy right?

It's clear then that dell's ati's are far superior than the clevo's and msi's ... they're beasts... Remem how u cudnt believe how my 5870 cud reach 990? Well I guess that's why... The secret is in the Dell cards :p

LOL ... I sure hope so considering you have 5870's in xfire... Lolll.... If u didn't there would be a serious problem with ur system... I was referring to a SINGLE 5870m configuration ... But I'll go ahead and assume u knew that :p

EDIT: mods do something please! Sorry for the triple post looks like I'm having trouble on my iPhone here lol :s my bad guys... Don't stone me :O

I'm with u on that one... After all, Dell did send me a 5870m instead of a 5850m to replace my 260... And until now I thought they just screwed up...but maybe, just maybe, they're really the same card with a different vbios ... Hmm sum1 should try flashing a Dell 5850m with the Dell 5870m vbios, and see if it improves the OC'ing capabilities.... Then we'd know for sure... So... Any volunteers? :p

Ok guys, I'm back. I know I've neglected the rankings in this thread for quite a while. I went on leave for over a month and came back and had a brand new shiny M17x and various CPUs waiting for me to bench. I've gotten all my extensive benching out of my system and the hardware I have with me.

I want to get back to tracking the scores for this thread. If anyone can link me to the top scores, or repost the top scores, I'm going to try and update the rankings. Thanks again and my appologies for the neglect. Now that the benching is done, til I get home ;), I have time to get back in the gym and track scores.

Nice score, did you flash the GPU and then overclock it via software? Also what kinda voltage did you use on that? Assuming 1.15v? What are the default clocks on the GPU? I know the M17x default clocks are 700/1000 for the 5870 cards. Also what kinda cooling?

Yea, I included it because it still had the GPU-Z clocks, but as stated in the scoring post, please include GPU-Z as well as CPU-Z so that all CPU and GPU clocks can be verified.

@maihsoul I will include your scores, but from here on out have CPU-Z and GPU-Z included in the screenshots. I know I havn't updated in a while, but I'm trying to get scores current.

Thanks guys and btw, the scores are definately looking impressive!
