Nice score, those 5850s can really scream. So how are you liking the system compared to your 8760? Are you planning on keeping both?

Hey, Joker. It's an embarrassment of laptop riches for the moment. I'm probably going to keep both and call one of them an email/home office computer for my wife. The M15x is very impressive and great fun to use, but I am addicted to the 17" screen, the extreme processor and the dual drives of the 8760. I can just do more with the Sager. On the other hand, I may throw a 920/940XM and a SSD in the M15x and change the calculus completely. You've had pretty good success with ES extremes haven't you?

Your wife's lucky if she gets to have an M15x as an email/office computer. This 940xm is my first ES and it's been stellar. It works exactly like an OEM/retail chip, no complaints here.

What score you get? I can get 9.6k, but I'm sure with a nice portable AC running under my M15x and the new 10.7 drivers, I can get over 10k.

No, at least I don't forget your killer score Wattos. You have the 5870 and the 920 processor and I'll never see those kinds of scores. ;)

By the way do you (or anybody for that matter) know how to get the iDirect3DDevice9 Error from happening? I can't run any benches now due to that error. :|

Power Play is supposed to help maximize performance but for benchmarking it actually hinders the results. To disable go into the ATI Catalyst Control Center and find the Power Play tab and deselect the check box, and click apply. :)

Just keep an eye on your temps but you should be fine with the temp as long as you have adequate ventilation underneath. i use my 9 cell battery to help lift it up and have not ordered a laptop cooler yet. I would like to replace the thermal paste and pads and slap a laptop cooler on the sucker and start benching to the MAX and see how the temps are on the CPU & GPU

My benchmarking days are just about over as I don't want to flash the gpu to run at 5870's speeds. Plus, I'm not able to OC the processor so I've pretty much capped out at my current scores. :p

Nobody is forgetting your scores, and awesome they are. You pretty much closed out everyone except Mandrake and Inap from even trying. Without a 920 and T-stop, there's no point. And even then, unlikely.

hey rev have you thought about switching your gpu's. see what your clevo card can do in the M15x and the 5850 in your clevo.

Yep, but thinking harder about swapping the 920 out of the Sager and into the M15x. The 5850 kills the 5870 in my Sager, which tops out around 850/1100 at best. A weak sister. I'm just not motivated enough for the undertaking at the moment. But with that 5850, the Sager would have a legitimate shot at the 17K range in '06, but I'm not sure the 8760 would recognize the Dell 5850.

CPU scores look fine try to bump up GPU core to like 850-900 start with 850-875 and monitor temps and see if you can finish the test. You gpu should be around 9000-9500.

I use on my setup 905/1075

First increase the voltage (to 1.0v) using the dropbox and click Set Voltage. Then increase the clocks to 800/1100, and it should take. Without first increasing the voltage, a high overclock will crash most of the time. 800/1000 is toward the high end for 1.0v, but you may be fine. (Mine does OK.) Individual cards seem to vary in the amount of voltage required for a given clock level. You just have to experiment.

    I did.. just saying :p
Life's goooood. As you can see in the M17x thread.. I'm one of the only of 2 people to break the 19k vantage barrier.

Upgrading does have its perks.. even if the bank has to be broken every now and then ;)
