So my OSD works for a day or two, then stops. What I've been doing to correct it, is to unistall and then reinstall the drivers for the OSD. Any better fix than this? Thanks in advance. It's very possible I'm just doing something wrong, I can't even figure out how to get my signature to appear here, lol.

I have the same issues. I would like to hear if anyone has a better way to handle this as well.

I had the same issue. There's two exe files in the osd folder (sorry the name escapes me) I just manually added a shortcut to the startup folder and not had an issue since.

Where is the startup folder again? I know someone else told me previously but I have no clue where.

The path to mine is C:\Users\M15X\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup and the two files are called osd_main and Launch and are in the C:\Program Files (x86)\OSD. Or you can create a shortcut on your desktop to it and simply drag (constantly holding throughout) to the start icon until the menu opens (itll take a few sec's) then all programs then finally to startup and wait for it to expand and let go of it inside. It may come up with a red cross but you just position it below the startup folder and above anything already inside.

I also had to lower the settings on UAC to stop the pop up on startup.

But still, the OSD icons on the screen aren't always shown?

For example, if playing a game I press the volume down: it won't show the OSD.
And when I finish the game, and go back to Windows, I press the volumen down again and I don't get the OSD either.

I have to restart the computer or do some "I don't know yet" and I get back the OSD.

    This only happens to me?

Well, for me is off when I finish the game... But sometimes works flawless.
    No idea why.

But the "function" is always working.
I mean, always when I press -for example- the "Volumen down" works... no matter if the OSD is shown or not.

    Should I care?

Is there any way to restart the OSD? I mean, without restarting the computer to turn the service off and on to get it back working?

    Thanks guys!

Yes, go press [windows]+[r] type msconfig and press enter, then go to the tab services (or whatever the name is in English... it should be the tab in the middle) and the search the service called HappyOSD and uncheck it. Save the settings and you're fine.
Same procedure for activating it again.

I somehow wasn't able to deactivate it through the task mangager...

But that method needs a computer restart to restar the service.

    I could also do...

    Run the Microsoft Management Console:
    Code:
    %windir%\system32\compmgmt.msc /s
Then look for the HappyOSD service and do a restart:
    Restart service.png

But, there must be an easier way.
    Ideas?

Ok. You can kill the process OSD_Main.exe in the task manager... but I have to find out how to restart it.
Do you know where this file is located?

Edit: found it, it's there: C:\Program Files (x86)\OSD

OSD_Main.exe will start it and Close_OSD.exe will obviously close it...

You can make a shortcut to the desktop if you want... or even set a keyboard shortcut.

Nope, I had tried that before.
    But doesn't work.

What I have to try is to "Restart" the service from the "Microsoft Management Console".
    Is a pending.

Strange tha I'm the only one with this kind of problems.
Strange that the "buttons" works always. The issue is just the image on the screen. Just the OSD.

    I had tried that.

I've uninstall the one I had on my computer installed (1.12, A04).

    Reinstall the new on from:
    Drivers and Downloads

    But the problem still there.

Does anyone knows a better way to uninstall the OSD?

Solution: I reinstall my computer and install the OSD at last.
The OSD was the last thing I've installed.

    Now is working OK.

I've also noticed that the "Always on top" of this app is not very good.
For example, if I press "Windows key+D", then the OSD is not visible. The OSD is working but "Minimized".

by any chance did you download the vista version and not the windows 7?
i had issues because i installed the wrong osd version.
it's easy to do since the dell support downloads defaults to vista for me.
you have to change it to windows 7 via a dropbox.

after downloading and installing the windows 7 version this osd stop working issue was resolved for me.

    hope this helps.
