    Lo chaps,

It's been a while since posting on these forums but I have a problem and thought the best place to go would be here! :)

Anyways, to put it as simply as possible.

You go to turn the laptop on with a battery in. Nothing happens.
Plug it into the mains, one (very) brief flash of light and then nothing...

All I could think of was a possible short of some type or just a buggered motherboard (which is pretty much fatal). But I have opened up the covers and found nothing out of place or blown up :)

So i'll leave it to you chaps to try and figure out, as maybe it has happened before?

    Thanks for the help!
    Tom

wow really sound like a dead mobo. have you tried the power drain trick just in case. also try it out with different power brick. but most likely the mobo is dead.
also try the legacy thread still should be some area 51 owners around, maybe they can serve you better.

Yeah, i've tried the whole 30 second power button thing to no avail, but I think it has become deaded..

Shame really, i've had it since 2008 and I cant have turned it on more then 20 times... typical! :)

Been jinxed from the start really I guess... Broken hinge etc etc...

I'll have to read up on the good ol' European legislation and find that 6 year 'fit for purpose' law :D
