Ive had my alienware m15x laptop for about 10months now and for the first 6-8 months or so the dvd drive has been working flawlessy. However quite recently the dvd drive doesnt work anymore. :(

I bought a new tablet for my laptop but i need to use the cd to install the drivers etc and that kinda sucks as my cd drive aint working.

What happens is when i put in a CD the drive sounds like it wants to play the disc and does a few kinda like revving sounds and stops.

my dvd drive is a optiarc dvd+rw ad-7640s and my bios is A08 if that helps

What have you already tried? Different media? Update the driver? if all else fails there is a guy on eBay who sells DVD drives that are broken in lots of five. You could rebuild it.
