Ok Well, I own an Alienware M15x & I'd like to over-clock two things on it.

    - intel Core i7-740QM Quad Core Mobile Processor 1.73GHz (Turbo up to 2.93GHz, 6MB Cache,1333MHz FSB)

    - nVidia GeForce GTX 460M Graphics with 1.5GB Dedicated RAM

I'd like to over-clock 'em to the point where the laptop is still 100% perfectly fine for everyday use.

Now, How would I go about doing this? What programs will I need?

Thanks for any help at all, It's greatly appreciated.

For the GPU, I'd suggest that you use MSI Afterburner. I use it on my Asus G73 and it works fine.

Regarding the maximum attainable clock speeds, these actually vary from laptop to laptop. Even two laptops of the same model may have different results.

What I'd suggest is to increase the clock speeds little by little and monitor your temperatures while you are doing it. :D

hi, i use evga precision because it let's you up the gpu clock even higher... afterburner usually stops at 745/1490 but with evga precision you can push the card to it's limit at about 800/1600. Even at those clocks temps remain low ~70C so it's pretty safe for everyday gaming. gl

Cant do much at all with your cpu unless u have an extreme processor, and i would only overclock the gpu when your ready to start gaming and back down after your done...

when you overclock the clocks only get to those speeds while gaming or benching, doing something non GPU-related doesn't affect your gpu so it's safe to keep your OC at all times (if it's withing normal borders)
