    Hi All

I have a 1 year old (almost to the day warrenty wise) x15M (Geforce 460M, i7 Q840, 16 GB Ram).

I have just doen a complete clean install (using a Windows install dvd as I can't fiond my recovery DVD).

Any - I seem to have hit a performance drop after the clean install - basically on the ciontrol panel system profile thingy I was getting 7.9 for cpu - I am now getting 5.5.

Does the Alienware install have some kind of CPU tweaking built in ?

    Many thanks

    John

    Perhaps stealth mode is engaged.

To turn it off hit the touch sensor button on the far right of the touch sensor button console at the top of your keyboard; Looks like a speedometer.

Hopefully this works for you... :)

I assume you are using Vista? As the 920xm OCed only gets 7.5 in Win 7.

Will try it and let you know ... As a matter of interest - what is the best processor that you can put in the x15M ? As I say - I currently have the q840. I've uped to 16gb RAM (even though its reporting zero in each slot it seems fine) - so i'm looking to up the processor. Not sure if I need to up the graphics card as I only have the 1600x900 display (as far as I know anyway) so the 460 M seems fine so far

920XM and 940XM. The 920XM can be had for less though and is just as good so no point in getting a 940XM (both unlocked with throttlestop)

Hmm - I've got the auto fix widget thing for the stealth mode. I think its stuck throttled down. Is there any software that would be on the resource disk that I am missing or is processor speed purely through bios ? As I said I have rebuilt using a standard MS DVD as I don't have my resource disk or recovery partition anyway ...

OK - Looks like speedstep was disabled at some point over the last day or so - which then of course means turbo boost doesn't kick in.

Back up to 7.2 on the windows 7 experience ...
