Ive had my laptop for a year and three weeks, and in typical 'sods law', I have developed a fault in the last week or two which seems to be getting worse (yes, I only brought one years warrenty, I was quite adamant that if anything went wrong, I would replace it myself or that it would be the catalyst for getting a new one, didnt expect it to do this after three weeks of running out of warrenty  ).

Anyway, the problem is the PSU connector. It connect into the socket fine, (with the shiny blue light near the tip of the connector), but the laptop does not always recognise that it is connected (so I am effectivly on battery). A little wiggle will get it working (though it may take more than one wiggle). It will also be powered up correctly and then switch 'to battery' as the connection is lost. This causes issues with games (in the battery powered state).

Has anybody else had this issue? At some point (soon) will make a call to Dell and see what my options are, but if anyone can over some good advice or experience with this issue, then will appreciate it.

    Boz

gets worse: the light wi;; go and then you have to cjeck to se if it has connected or not. Seems to be a connection in the tip. Again, once out of warranty replacement is the only option -- Dell part ~$140 eBay ~$40
search under pa 5m10 150w adapter -- lots of numbers on the bottom of the brick but that seems to be best for searching.

Yeah, traced the fault down to the PSU (I have another Dell laptop for work, so even though its a bit weedier than the Alienware PSU, it still 'charges' from this one).

Ive ordered a PSU, just waiting on it to be delivered. Thanks lgsshedden for the reply :D
