Anyone have problems with the power cord being a bit lose? I created my own wooden lapdesk to game in my recliner and it's really easy to accidentally pull the power cord out. This is a problem, because I do not leave my battery in.

When I first got my M15x it was nice and snug. Now I can wiggle it up and down and it pulls way to easy. :(

actually thats normal for it to be loose. i'd rather it disconnect if i accidentally trip on it rather than having the whole laptop drop.

but why do you not put the battery in, could be dangerous for you system if you accidentally unplug it.

Leave your battery in and if you are worried about your battery overcharging and losing it's lifespan just hit FN+F2 until it says battery disabled and you wont have to worry about it charging.

Just don't forget to disconnect when you are not using it cause then the battery will charge no matter what.

Definitely going to stop functioning if you don't get this looked at. If its still connected several computer shops can take a look/repair it. Better yet, send it to dell before its too late.

yeh sometimes you have to hit it a few times to toggle.

heh, my replacement mobo is really a snug fit, however my original was loose and always falling out if i moved the lappy even a bit.

Would heat be a problem for the battery? I haven't received my system yet so I have no idea about how hot its gets lol. But my current laptop is around 55-90C(I can't hear the wows? lol) so it is not a good experience for me xD

I do think the heat would have some effect on the battery life. I would say very minimal because they do recommend to store it in a dry cool place when it is not in use. But I would say if you had to pick one of the lesser evils, just leave it connected but turn off the charging capabilities. The 9-cell battery lifts up the laptop to a decent height so more air can get underneath for better cooling. This is just my temporary fix until I get one of those amazing Zalman Laptop coolers.

heat does shorten the life of li-ion batteries unfortunately. an interesting read over here if anyone wants. but the m15x runs pretty cool i must say. you'd think it would be a furnace with the hardware inside it.

Just to correct myself, I turned off my laptop and the battery did not charge even though I had the charger plugged in. I'm gonna assume if you disable the battery by pressing FN+F2 it wont charge unless you enable it again. Pretty cool, so now I never have to worry about my battery over charging.
