My laptop is just gone past one year old. I have just renewed the warranty so im covered.

The left arrow key seems to be sticking. I noticed it last night and although the key is still fully functional it just dosent feel as smooth as before.

At first i though it was perhaps catching one of the other keys beside it, on its way back up after being depressed.
However on closer inspection that dosent seem to be the case. It even makes a slight clickin noise and pops back up. Sometimes it pops back at a very slight angle then you can actually see it click and correct itself a second or two later.

I was wondering if there might be dust or something underneath that has got in and is causing it,, but that might not explain the clicking noise.

Its not that i even use those keys much and have been pressing it too hard in game or anything as for most of my games I use a controller pad.

I dont know if you can remove the keys individually and I dont really want to remove the whole keyboard either especially while all still covered by a warranty. But if I go through Dell I could be waiting ages,, and if they take the machine away then even longer..But i dont want to risk doing something either that might make it worse or break something else

    Anyone recommend any suggestions

You can take individual keys off. I managed to pretty much destroy my backspace key, so just ordered a new one off ebay. It cost me about $3 including shipping. Was a little bit annoying to get it back on, but meant I had a perfectly working key.

You have to be careful not to snap anything off the underside of the key though, otherwise you won't be able to get it back on.

Thats what I was afraid of,, destroying something lol,,, my last laptop was really easy to remove keys etc,,, and I dont even see where you would open the machine to get to the keyboard on this one (if i did wnt to remove board to dust under)

Think i will just gee Dell a phone as it covered for another year anyway,,, least then if they destroy something they can pay for it

I didn't destroy the key trying to take it off, it was because I dropped the charger on it... Was not a good day.

I'm sure there are guides on here somewhere to show you how to get to the underside of the keyboard. Always worth taking the key itself off and making sure it isn't something under it causing the problem though, before you go sending it off or dismantling things.

i actually took off a key and managed to put it back ( a drop of cofee :( ). but it doesnt feet the same, i examined it and noticed it is in X shape with the key on top. carefully fit each side of the X solved the problem.
