I have had my screen overclocked to 120Hz when I still had the GTX 260m (year ago) in my laptop and it worked 100% fine. However, since I upgraded it to a 560m, the system goes to full clocks on the gpu when I have the screen at 120Hz which causes high idle temps.

Temps with 260m at idle was 46-50 with 120hz or not.

Temps with 560m at idle is 48 with 60hz, and 59-62 with 120hz.

Is there any way to control the GPU so it does not go full gaming mode when I set the screen at 120Hz. Thank you.

Are the load temps still good? If so, I would not stress too much over the idle temps. Assuming the heat sink radiators are nice and clean, there may be nothing you can do to change it other than try a heat sink repaste or something of that nature. But really, 62°C should not be a cause for undue concern. If the load temps are good, just enjoy your machine.

Try t his article to troubleshoot overheating. Let us know what the max temp is during gaming or heavy load. That will clarify things better.
