If I were to upgrade my gt240m to either a gtx560m or a 6970m or something(btw im in the market :)
would i have to find a new heatsink as well or would the one that came with my gt240m work?

    Thanks in advance.

I believe the heatsink for the GT240m does not fix/keep cool enough the GTX560m but the GTX260m heatsink does, so I would say yes you will require a new heatsink. as of yet I have not upgraded my GPU so I cannot say 100% but what I've read on the forums it would indicate the heatsink would require changing.

The dell M15x only has one heatsink. The xbracket is the issue, an i believe going from the 240m to whatever gpu upgrade will require an appropriate xbracket

i think youre talkin bout the x bracket. like khetik said i dont think the 240m x bracket fits but you also gotta know that the screws on the 6970m x bracket are too big so if you do decide to go with it then you are gonna have to file them down to get proper contact between the heatsink and the gpu.

And if i may i would advise you to upgrade to a 7970m instead as its a better card than the 6970m and supposedly it runs cooler too.

    There's just one fan/heatsink for the M15x
    PR2H1 - ASSY,HTSNK,CPU,W/FAN,M15X

As for the support plate (X bracket), you will need a new one:
    AMD 7970m Support Plate - 3PVGK

Send me a PM if you need help getting any parts.
