I haven't come across any threads of people trying to upgrade their screen to the Dell Ultrasharp 15" panels that come with the M4600 and M4700. According to some sellers, the AUO B+RG 95% gamut screen is compatible in both the M15x and M4600. This makes me think that the Ultrasharp panels are possible in the M15x too.. Am I wrong? Anyone know if there's a different LCD cable or port that is needed and comes with the crazy high res QHD+ display?

IMO the AUO upgrade from the 1080p stock isn't worth the money or risk or effort, but the QHD+ panel just might be, if I can even get my hands on one of them.

The 95% works in m15x as far as I read. Ultrasharp is just a marketing term and have nothing to do with the screen.

Would really have to see real pictures of the connections to tell.

I'd be interested to know what screen upgrade options were available. I know the screen outer casing is reflective but could you put a matte screen inside and would it make any difference?
I've got a few annoying dead pixels so would like to replace or upgrade and would appreciate knowing what works etc.

Right now the only known successful upgrade is the 95% gamut one I was talking about and here's the guide, or what's left of it..

I don't know if the M15x screen is matte itself, but the M18x screen is matte and I indeed notice the same reflections with the glass as the M15x. The only way would be to completely remove the glass and make a custom bezel.

Guess I'll head over to the Precision forums and have a look..

It is a horrible upgrade though. Opening the bezel is so hard!

Does anyone know manufacturer and model number of the QHD+ panel to begin with? I bet a new LVDS cable that supports such resolution is necessary.

I think all the QHD screens use eDP, nor LVDS. So I doubt this is possible.

Was it worth it at least?
