I've got an M15x with i5 processor and 5GB ram.

This is not enough for me now so I want to upgrade the ram to the max stated 8GB.

    At the moment I have:

    1x 4GB PC-10600 DDR3 1333 CL9 Corsair
    1x 1GB

I've purchased an additional 4GB Corsair identical to the existing 4GB installed.

However, when I replace the 1GB with the new 4GB stick the notebook hangs on the first windows loading screen, then eventually restarts and does the same loop continuously.

When I remove my old 4GB stick and try just with new one I get a blue screen of death 0x000000C5 error.

    -------

I've tried 2x different sticks of RAM, safe mode, recovery, etc etc. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Oh, and BIOS is updated to latest and RAM is detected in BIOS.

    Faulty stick?
When you said you tried 2 different sticks you meant 2 new, right?
Then buy any other 1333 stick of ram.

Cjeck if it works when you put 1st 1gb stick and 2nd old 4 gb

Yeah, tried 2x new sticks. Both purchased from corsair website and guaranteed to work with my M15x - I know I can send them back, but that doesn't help me upgrade, *sigh*

Ill try the new 4 and old 1 stick later today. Cheers.

Does your laptop still boot normally using your original config?

Could be the ram slot on your board is the problem,

have you tried to boot with single RAM stick? and swaping between the 2 slot available?

My 16GB config is only work when i put Stick A on 2nd Slot and Stick B on 1st slot, funny but, that's how it goes...

It doesn't seem like that's the issue because the original configuration had the 2 sticks in there. It seems more like the PC does not like the new memory. I would recommend trying a different 1333 RAM as suggested by James D.
