Hi so I am a bit of a noob here however I was intending to upgrade my m15x to 10gb of ram. I bought a corsair 8gb of ram. Here is the link to the ram that I bought

    Amazon.com: Corsair 8 GB Module (1x8GB) DDR3 1333MHz PC3 10666 204-Pin Unbuffered C9 Laptop Memory CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9: Computers & Accessories

Before the upgrade I had 2x2 for 4gb of ram. When I put the 10gb in it doesn't read it and proceeds not to startup. I then tried wih just the 8gb peice and proceeded for no ram to register and my computer blue screened. I am aware that the motherboard is only supposed to have 8gbs but it typically does work.

I apologize if this isn't of much information but any help would be appreciated. If theres anything you need me to tell you please ask or should I just get two 4gb peices of ram instead of trying to go over 8.

    Hello and welcome to NBR.

Good news is that the M15x supports 16Gb (2x8Gb).

A bad stick of memory may be bad and that can cause the BSODs. You can check the suspected stick alone with MEMtest. If you get errors i suggest you RMA the stick.

is your 2GB also 1333 as well? sometimes un-synchronized ram pair can be a trouble, although normally it will just work on the slower speed...

those sticks are going to run CL-8 1333 if you started. And OP says that he has latest macbook pro which means they will work on 1600 speed.

No. It will run at CL8 1333Mhz if you say so. But I assume they will work 1600Mhz as OP said that his Macbook is one of the newest.

ends up take the ram from my iMac and put it on M15x,

funny that it work on 1 machine and cause ruckus on the other...

Sorry for not replying to this for a while! Been a tad busy. I got a Crucial m4 128 gb ssd. Would have gotten an Intel but these were cheaper and I have heard good things from the forums here! Will look through rest of thread and read responses. The ssd works great though I just know I need to get some firmware running. It was a bit of a struggle at first since I installed all the drivers in the wrong order. But then I just reinstalled windows and followed the thread and it worked great.

Getting a new stick of ram shipped to me as well hopefully it should work out.

Also on another note I have a 250gb seagate momentus the one that originally came with the laptop. I used a Rosewill case so I could still use this hard drive for storage purposes. It connects fine but the hard drive wont show up. Is it because I am missing drivers?

The original ram is 1333mhz. Hmm perhaps I might just get 4x2 save myself some money I just figured if at some point ever I wanted to upgrade to 16 (at that point it would probably be just because) then it would be easier for me to just buy another 8gb stick.

Also thank you all for being so nice and helpful I really like the community on here!
