So my motherboard randomly fried out of nowhere (I got the oh so sweet 3 lock keys flashing yippee) and now i need to order another pm55, anyone know the best deal on one of these? On a side note also, how difficult is it to replace it? I reseated everything so i can get it to pretty much barebones, just unsure of how much of a pain this will be?

    DELL 0G5VT ALIENWIRE M15X MOTHERBOARD | eBay

I think that should work, if you do need a new motherboard that is. They come apart easily I think (I have parted one out before) so if you have some computer skills you should be fine.

I wonder if dell would by chance sell them...I would want a new one if it were a couple of dollars more, but I highly doubt it.

I really do not know, if the screen is black but it boots, the video card may be the issue. On the pre-dell laptops, I know the the motherboard can also go bad and not display video as well (but I don't know if it applys to newer ones). Have you tried connecting it to an external monitor?

If you swap the video cards out as well, that may either tell you the video card is bad or if it is a motherboard issue as well (if you can use someone else's, etc...).

Thats what I figured (I just tried to install my 460m with bios a03, got the 2locks flashing :D).

You could do the new motherboard (should not be too bad, just takes time to do it), sell it as it is or part it out.

That one I posted is only $175 so that might be something to look at if you replace it.

negate that last statement, but i am still curious is there a model number directly on the motherboard?
