So I had a flight today and when I got home, I noticed my M15x's screen was acting funny.

there is this flickering red tint. Could this been caused by the Xray machine? I know if you place strong magnets near a monitor a similar effect will occur.

Anyway, so just wondering if you guys had any ideas what I could do to fix this and/or where I can get a new monitor screen.

hmm I have travelled with mine a lot times and it was x rayed multiple times but nothing of the sort has ever happened. If you are prepared to go ahead with the tutorial, I would advise to get the bezel in the LCD as well it saves a lot of work. I am sure it was suggested in a post in the same tutorial. Consider all options before attempting it as it will void your warranty.

Its the only thing I can think of. It was working just fine yesterday. Maybe it was secretly on(damn windows updates) when it went through the scanner. No worries, my warranty has been expired for over a year now.

where can I get it with the bezel?

Other than maybe replacing the lcd to motherboard cable or waiting for my 460m to show up. I don't know what other option I have to replacing the lcd screen.

But I would check the cable something might have shorted. This is an assumption but don't lose hope I'm sure someone else would had faced this problem before

Before swapping out the screen check the cabling for the lcd. I had a similar issue with a dell latitude d820, outta nowhere it had a really strong red tint. Took it to the pc repair shop (wasnt too familiar with teardowns then), he opened her up reset the cabling. All was good for about 2 years, started doing it again bout a week ago. Im starting to think the cable is goin bad on mine =/

Does it happen in the BIOS as well?
If it does then probably the problem is the screen. Even though you are OOW we can still offer you options, feel free to send us an e-mail to [email protected] including your tag, phone and a brief description of the issue and we'll take care of it.
