Hi all, I'm looking for some advice on a replacement power supply. Mine has deteriorated and the cable has come loose - I know it will fail soon and I'm offended that I have to pay for a new one even though I still have a warranty for the machine..

I know I can get one direct from dell, but was looking for other options and experiences people may have had with new power supplies.

    I found this link http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sn...ynoteSearch&baynote_bnrank=0&baynote_irrank=0

Which offers a new 150W power adapter, but for £100 (about $150 i think).. Is it just me or is that unfair on me as an in-warranty customer?

I can't afford to lose my computer at this point (for work) but also find £100 to be quite extortionate for a device that could fail due to basic wear and tear.. Why isn't it covered in the warranty?!

    Booooo

Okay found a 240W supply for the same price (bizarre) and I hear it also works with the M15x.. But of course it would run cooler I suppose since it's at a much lower usage of it's capacity when powering an M15x..

Can anyone shed some experience on this? thanks

Yes, you are correct it will run much cooler than the original m15x psu, i am currently using an m17x r3 psu and its running great. It hasnt given me any problems, the first time i plugged it in, it gives you a warning, detecting it as not the 150 but the 240w and gives you the option to switch the setting to accept the 240w as the primary power. As i bought my off of nbr market place, for $75(new) and i believe inap has one for sale to around that price but im unsure of the internation shipping costs, its worth a look
