Hey folks, I just bought a new Alienware M15x customized to nearly top of the line hardware. I play wow and the first few days I had it running fine on standard "ultra" graphics settings. A few days and a little bit of extra programs though I wouldn't say anything much (I cut all programs besides WoW off when I play and end any uneccessary processes) and it's already bogged down extremely to the point it only runs decently at "fair" or "low" graphics settings. Anyone have tips to help me out, I'm not a computer genius or anything but I know my laptop should not be struggling to run WoW at decent graphic settings. Tips, tricks, all is appreciated. Thanks

Just to state the obvious, did you make sure stealth mode is off, and performance options is set to max?

I'm not even sure what stealth mode is, nor how to find either of the previous mentioned. You may call me an idiot, I completely understand after replying with this message.

Lol, on the touch pad, upper right hand corner, is a button that looks like a speedometer. Make sure this is off, this is the stealth mode button. It glows slightly brighter when it's on. Turn it on and off a few times, and watch the on screen display, this is most likely your problem.

Stealth mode is a feature that clocks down the laptop, allowing it to use less energy when on ac. It causes alot of people trouble. If you search this forum, you'll find a program written by a member here, to help solve this potentially confusing feature.

Alright I know what it is now (thank you lol) however it was already dimmed when I found it. So the next on the list would be finding performance options and setting them to the max. help a noob out? lol

Just click on the battery icon in your system tray, and choose the max performance option. You can also access this via control panel> power options. Also, play with that stealth mode button, I've turned it on many times inadvertantly.
The difference in illumination between on and off is very slight.

Alright found that. That' was the big helper right there too! I had it set to balanced and switched it to high performance. Huge improvement, and I had a few other programs running. You're a life saver! (or laptop saver at least) Thanks for the help!
