i havent heard anything, and excuse me for the foolish question, but does anyone think the sandy bridges will be in the m15x's at some point? i was just curious since that would be the ideal machine for me. thanks!

There's speculation that the M17x r3 will replace the M15x; this is what I believe as well. I just don't see them releasing a version of the M15x with the sandy bridge processors since they already have a sandy bridge laptop with a single graphics card.

I strongly contest the m17x-R3 replacing the m15x, it's just not going to happen. Just caus they both have a single card (i also do not believe the m17x-R3 will stay a single carded notebook, in the end it will overpower the R2 and replace it) doesn't mean one will replace the other.

The m17 is a totally different target audience then the m15x. The m15x is still meant to be somewhat portable, the m17x isn't, it's alot heavier and a wee bit bigger.

I think there will be Sandy bridges in the next m15x release (the R3), which i think you'd be seeing by the end of the year (then agian, with the recent sandy bridge bugs, who knows).

And then there will be a new type of processor, and everyone will wait on that one, and a new one again, and wait again etc.
You can't catch up with technology :)

yeah, i second jiggy, because i would prefer the SB's in a m15 with the setup they have. i think it would be better to become somewhat portable as he said. the question is, will they ever put the SB's in a m15x

yeah i got a feelin that they will drop the M15x line, and prolly make something smaller like M13x or M14x, cause the M15x vs r3 is only a small size/weight difference.

hey '3demons' I just spoke to a dell rep on the online chat service they have and I asked them about an m15x r3 and they said it'll be coming out in March!! no other information besides that it will have the new sandy bridge processor. I have been wanting to buy the m15x for sometime now but I delayed it and it finally payed off.

If M15x R3 does have SB, what kind of SB will be offered? Is there any lower SB than 2630? Maybe 2620 ?

Speculation from me: M15x R3 will be a slim form factor with a GT 555m.

As stated before, Dell Reps know just about as much as the average user on these forums. The dell reps see what you see and nothing more. As for weather or not they will make SB's in the M15X or even have a new line of M15X, I'm happy with mine and plan to keep it for another good 3-4 years.

I think the same. The Dell sell reps know not much than us.

In the other hand, the M17xR3 is not thaaaaat big. Is bigger than the M15x... but lighter than the M17xR2.

the price is what is driving me away from it :/ which is why an m15x r3 would be perfect for me
