I know with it not being a Sata III port that my SSD will be underutilized but should it be this slow from the advertised max speeds?

Bios is set to ACHI mode, I've already done the OS optimizations with the Samsung utility (Super Fetch, defrag, indexing disabled) and I've done the computer optimizations also using the Samsung utility.

Can I get my speeds higher? Closer to the advertised 540/250 read/write and 96000/62000 IOPS?

You shouldnt be getting anywhere near the advertised speeds due to the M15x limitation. Your speeds look to be about right.

^ He's right, your speeds show the limit for SATA II. Is it possible to run Raid 0 (one drive in drive bay and one in optical bay) on the M15x?

So I can't get it faster than that?

Run a crystaldiskmark and upload that. You shouldn't be getting anything above around 280MB/S since the M15x is sata2. Even at sata2, a SSD like that should perform way better than an hdd. I plan on getting a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro later.

The M15X doesn't have any options in the bios to do that, so a software raid would only be possible,if even possible.

Unfortunately no, it's not an option in the BIOS as the laptop was designed to support only one hard drive.

that speed seems to be right, since SATA II won't even hit 300....
