Is a screen protector really necessary? the AG one for the 1080p m15x?

read in the forum that the keyboard scratches the screen and that to use a cloth, instead will this scratch guard suffice? I am usually not the kind which keeps the cloth clean and dust free :p

I have never had this problem with my computer, so I guess you will be ok without a protector. Make sure your screen does not rest on the keyboard and you will be fine :D

No dude, seriously. The ladies totally dig it when you sit down in a cafe and whip that thing out.

    :)

But really, you don't need a screen protector. I've had my system for over a year and I've never had an issue.

When I shut the lid on my laptop without putting it to sleep / hibernate I find once I open it again, maybe 20 minutes later, the keyboard and screen are seriously hot. Don't you get this effect when you run it on an external display? I'm always worried that it will eventually do some kind of damage to the screen itself. Not so bothered about the keyboard but I know a screen can be a pretty fragile thing...

I'm the one that started that topic, and I seem to have had the worst luck with this. I baby my electronics like you wouldn't believe, and I was VERY careful with this computer, yet somehow every time I closed it I got a new scuff, usually around where the trackpad is. I finally picked up a generic screen protector (actually a 17", not a 15" :p), so hopefully it won't get any more. It also helped to make the scratches a tad less noticeable in indirect light. I should've called Dell to get a new screen before my warranty ran out... :(

But did you use some soft fabric between the keys and the screen on every lid close?

No, I didn't have anything handy most of the time. Plus, a laptop shouldn't need that just to be able to function without damaging itself.

my laptop is starting to look really bad, any of the people who have these screen protectors noticed any difference in screen/image quality?

ive only had my laptop for about 8 months and it mostly goes everywhere, its only that past month or so i have started to leave it home, but that hasnt slowed the rate at which i get scratches.

Try a soft fabric between the keyboard and the screen.

Something like this: iStock Store | iStockphoto.com
Or better something bigger that covers also the touchpad.

Sorry for jumpin' in on this.... just thought i'd give my 2 cents.
The rubber things on my palm rest fell off months ago, I use the software cover that came with it. I just pop it over the screen before I close, works a charm!! :D
