Hi friends! After 9 years the time has come to move to something I little more relevant. In this case a P8 equipped with a 7700K capable of 5ghz across all core under load and a 1080. My tinkering will continue but on this new platform :)

It has been so much great fun working with the M15x and tinkering with it, pushing it and breaking records with it. It will be missed.

Sometime in August I will find time to start putting various components up for sale in the marketplace, these will include the following:
980M 4GB with prema mod (excellent card with much better thermals than the 8GB card)
W7170M 4GB a good card but sadly not compatible with m15x
    m6100 2GB good little card
    16GB of HyperX ram
BT/wifi AIO card (with no antennae adaptors)
    940XM
Dual PSU adaptor box for those that want to push things and go crazy :)

I wish you guys all the best and let's stay in touch :)

It is about that time, M15x is a tired machine in 2019 but it has certainly outlived and outperformed any other machine of the same vintage.

On a site in my country a guy is selling new 970Ms from Clevo for around 500Euro if you are interested, but I believe it's a bit overpriced. If you want I can get you a Quadro M4000M for around 220-250Euro. Same/higher performance, better cooling, and so on ;)

Sounds interesting. Does fan control and display port out work with the m4000m, and is it a drop in or are mods needed? If so, could you send me a PM?

It's an M, so Maxwell, not Kepler, newer stuff. If you want, there is also K5100M somewhere, but price/performance in highly on the side of M4000M.

I finally sold up. Got a P870TM monster now which will keep me going the next decade or so :) If you are interested in the various things I have for sale check out my FS thread.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...s-980m-w7170-cpu-940xm-ram-wifi-cards.832097/

For M15x owners I may even decide to sweeten the deal. A summary of the things for sale:

Dell 980M 4GB - best possible upgrade for M15x as the 8GB version runs too hot for the heatsink to cope. Incredibly rare also. Works perfectly plug and play.
    Dell W7170M 4GB - not compatible with M15x sadly
M6100 2GB mxm - good cheap backup card
    16GB HyperX Impact DDR3 1333 CL 8 sodimms (2x8GB kit) - great ram. Runs at CL 8 in M15x
    16GB Crucial DDR4 2400 (2x8GB kit)
    940XM - again best CPU for M15x
Killer N1103 wifi mpci card - Good but aging card
Azurewave a/b/n/ac & BT mpci card - Works in M15x but you need to get the aerial adaptor cables
Dual PSU adaptor box for M15x (can connect up to x2 330w PSUs to it for 660W total) - designed for M15x :)
