    Static shock every time i touch a cd in the system

    for the past few days i have been getting static shocks every time i go to take the CD out or when i go to insert one
    is something wrong with my system maybe something is not grounded properly or if i call Dell are they just going to tell me thats its fine

    is there a defect in the dvd drive ?
    does anyone els have these issues i never got the problem before

    how dry is your room? When my humidity drops below 20% i routinely get shocks when touching the case although I can't say the DVD drive has ever caused a shock... I'd say it's normal assuming the room is dry enough. A disc spinning at high velocity could build up a static charge I would presume

    its not just when taking it out but if i put a fresh disc in that hasnot been used it shocks also
    the room is preaty well taken care of i have the windo cracked all the time for air and the fan is on in the rooms most of the day also
