    Hello,

I bought a brand new M15X last week. The hard drive died within an hour. My replacement HD will be here tomorrow. Once I get the OS reinstalled what are some recommended stress tests I can put the laptop through. I only have 3 weeks left before I can return it for exchange. I need to confirm once and for all that this laptop is not a lemon.

    thanks!

You can do Prime95, Furmark, 3DMark**, play a few games that are heavily demanding like Resident Evil 5, Black Ops, etc. Those are the things that I could think of from the top of my head.

If it's stable after a few hours, you're pretty sure to have a good laptop. If anything, you have Dell's NBD warranty, so you'll be covered for that year.

Make it run an 10 hours straight gaming session while downloading stuff from internet with every possible backlight LED turned on. If it survives then it'll be fine. :D. Also, make sure the temps are monitored using hwinfo32 or CPU-Z and GPU-Z

Intel Burntest 5 times at Max. Then Run Furmark for 15 mins and your good to go.

there is really nothing you can do to really tell how reliable the laptop is, the only thing i recommend is getting an extended warranty.

When they asked me to get an extended warranty they wanted like $400. IMO in 1 or 2 years If it even fails...(Which will most likely be an easy fix part) you can fix it yourself....either that or get a new laptop if your up to it...but mostly replace the part.
