Sudden drop in performance - might be overclocking

A couple of days ago I downloaded sapphire trixx and increased the core clock by 20. I didn't do any testing on that day.

The next day, the fan on the right side was like on 100% for the first 4 minutes or so. I thought it might be the overclocking so I went back and pressed reset, but before I could load sapphire the fan stopped.

Then, I started black ops, and I get around 15 FPS. No graphical settings had being changed. TF2 had also turned into ~100FPS to 35FPS.

When I start GPU-Z the fan speed is constantly 0RPM.

I'm thinking I might have broke the fan in the graphics card. Is this likely? Thanks

Don't worry, a 20MHz overclock does absolutely no damage. First of all check whether you have stealth mode activated. (Should be off)

How do I check this? I don't have the alienware software (it was a clean install of windows 7), so that must mean stealth mode is disabled, right?

I've just updated my graphics drivers from dell's support site. Still the same problem :(

My power plan is also at high performance.

Hmm, did you install the Command Center and the OSD driver? I'm not sure whether stealth mode is possible without it...

Make sure your AC is plugged in and then make a Throttlestop and GPU-Z logfile (check "continue refreshing this screen..." in GPU-Z) and then play a game for about 10-20 min and upload the two logfiles here.

Nope, I do not have CC or OSD driver, only ATI Calayst.

My GPU-Z log files shows 95-100% GPU load, 300MHz/400MHz clock speeds, ~46 degrees CPU temperature, constant 30% fan speed, no data for fan RPM (the fan is on and it does not feel hot at all).

So the problem I think is with the temperature sensor or the fan.

EDIT: I just removed and reinstalled the drivers. GPU-Z is still showing -- RPM fan speed. I guess it is a hardware problem :(

Make sure you have Powerplay enabled in Catalyst Control Center (Power -> Powerplay)

    Yep, powerplay is enabled.

Should I just buy a new graphics card and replay it? The quality of this alienware laptop isn't really good, the hard drive failed in the second month.

No, the fan speed and rpm reported by GPU-Z are false, resulting from a glitch that makes the utility unable to accurately read the applicable sensors in the M15x; consequently, those readings do not provide any useful information about the state of your graphics card (the other data reported is reliable). With PowerPlay enabled, the GPU clocks suggest strongly that you are in Stealth mode. Press the speedometer/tachometer icon on the far right of the touchpad to toggle the stealth mode state. The icon will glow more brightly when stealth mode is engaged, slowing down the computer by reducing 3d clocks to 300/400. Press again, and the icon will dim, indicating a return to normal clocks. The difference in brightness can be subtle; the difference in 3d performance can be dramatic.

Thank you very much! :D I thought there would at least be a on-screen notification or something. +rep (I only have a rep power of 1, sorry)

Yeah, that's because you haven't installed the OSD driver (according to one of your previous posts).
I didn't know that the touch buttons work without CC...

Great. After OSD is installed, you will get an on-screen notification when the stealth mode state changes.

    Oops - you're too quick, svl7.
