So after installing ATI Calalyst 10.7 drivers, my ccc fails to load. Note: i did not uninstall the previous drivers or run any sort of cleaning software. So anyone have an idea what the problem is?

I'm satisfied with the system so far otherwise, getting good fps on crysis + highest details.

did you do the config work around before installing?
find the config folder, should be in c: ati or amd folder, open up the install manager with notepad, change the last one, which is :
workaroundinstall=false, change the false to true and save it.
then re run the install exe.

its because of the pressure from laptop manufacturers who want end users to use their (often outdated) propietary drivers. thankfully this sort of thing is becoming rarer. nvidia created their "verde" program and ati have this workaround. while not so elegant, it works. it gives us the freedom (if we search for it) to use whichever driver we please, while at the same time they (amd/ati) can look like they're supporting other companies (like dell) by enforcing their customized (and often outdated) drivers.

heck it could have been worse, we could have something like a reversed wiring mxm slot like some people have to put up with
