Does our BIOS have TPM built in? I just tried to enable bitlocker but it threw the error message it would throw when the BIOS doesn't have TPM built in. Has anyone encrypted their drive with bitlocker? I could always use truecrypt, but I would like to try to do it with bitlocker first.

I've tried and couldn't because of the computer doesn't support TPM.

Is it a matter of it not being supported or it being hidden by the BIOS? Did you just give up or did you encrypt the drive with something else?

I'm fairly certain that it isn't supported. There's an unlocked M15x BIOS here but I'm pretty sure there still isn't an option for it. I bought windows 7 ultimate so that I had the option to use bitlocker and needless to say I was very disappointed when I found out that I couldn't use it. Honestly, I hadn't even thought about encrypting my hard drive since then.

ah. I got ultimate for different reasons, but I know what you mean. I don't want to have to have a USB key to start the computer to be necessary. With TPM it is an option, but yeah. I know that increases the security level and what not. Hm, maybe I will just use Truecrypt.
