    Thermal pads

    im going to put the pads from my 5730 on to my 5850.

    Where do i place these pads?

    It's actually very easy the 5730 is almost the same shape and layout as the 5850 so where the thermal pads were on the 5730, they will go in the same place on the 5850.

    the plastic 5850 is packaged in anti static right?

    And did is it safe to reuse the pads

    Yep pretty sure. Honestly you are getting waaay too worked up with this whole static thing. I do advise caution but the number of times I have opened up my laptop without any wristband or anything, everything still runs fine. Unless you are wearing a woolly jumper and have just take off a nylon ski jacket, I'm pretty sure you will be fine.

    sorry man. This is just the most money ive ever spent on a computer. And most of my house is carpets.

    So reusing pads is okay?

    Yep I've reused mine. Been through 2, potentially 3rd on the way and I don't intend to change them unless they get seriously bad.
    PS I understand, it is a lot of money so all the care is advisable. Good Luck!

    Quick question: I ordered my m15x on the 10th, its now the 21st and it still hasn't shipped. The status has said finalizing production for the past 3 days. What's up?

    I have no idea, I've never ordered from Dell. My M15x came from gumtree (UK version of craiglist)
