    Think serving has died in my m15x

    Hey guys I hope u can help me, my m15x has been overheating recently and cutting itself off happened 2 times in 2 weeks I have noticed the fans have also started blowing out a little hit air where before it was lots if cold air, it is around 6 months old, my laptop then had issues starting up I used alien respawn to go to factory settings now when my laptop loads up it goes to starting windows then just a black screen but it's a lit back screen if thy makes any sense hope you guys can help me clear up the issue , I will be phoning dell on Monday also but would like to try sort it out today, thanks and sorry for the wall of text and possibly weak description

    Update: I have now tried to put the windows cd which I got with my laptop and it's making a horrendous noise like the disk is vein chewed something is not right at all

    The overheating could be due to dusty vents. Have you tried cleaning them out? This should be done atleast once a month (or even more often). If you havent ever done this in 6 months, chances are that you have a LOT of dust clogged up in there.

    I dont really understand the part about the black screen, but always make sure your drivers are up to date.

    No I have not taken the laptop apart to clean anything was scared to void warranty, pretty much windows isn't loading I tried the Microsoft repair it says it's unable to repair, and now my disk drive sounds like a grinder, are dell tech support open on a Sunday does anyone know?

    Alienware support is supposed to be open at all times.
    Try taking off the back-cover by removing the battery, unscrewing 2 screws and sliding it forward. Then you should be able to see your vents.
    They are most likely VERY dusty. You can clean them by blowing air into the vents from the outside, or by using a vacuum-cleaner.

    Just remember to hold the fan so it doesnt spin. This could cause it to break.
    Im pretty sure there are some videos on youtube that will show you how to take it appart safely

    Also Inaps thermal past guide will give you all the info you need to open the laptop an clean the fans,easy to read step by step instructions with pictures.
    What more could you ask for :D
