Ever since the weekend the touch sensor control panel has gone dark. Sometimes it works but then most of the time the light is off and its unresponsive. All other lights work.

Any ideas? I don't care tbh as I only use it to control volume and it fact found it annoying as sometimes I would turn wireless off by accidentally brushing it. Still though would like to know if it is fixable.

Reinstalled windows today to fix 7970M functionality which was success but that didn't fix this issue? TIll now no issues at all.

It seems like the problem is related to hardware, the indicator cover might have gone wrong. If you require technical assistance or a replacement please send us an e-mail to [email protected] and we will be glad to make that happen. Remember to add your service tag and phone number. After the resolution, make sure you post here what happened so that the community is aware.

The machine I bought second hand so I don't think I have a service tag.

Also I think it is not hardware related as when it works it works from boot up till shut down. Not intermittantly as you suggest. Usually like at the moment when I boot it up the touch sensor strip is dead.

I never sleep or hibernate the machine so I always shut the machine down after use. Doing a power drain though doesn't help it seems rather random as to when it decides to want to work from boot up.

It could be that the ribbon cable for the touch panel has loosened up, and that might be the reason why it only works sometimes from boot. Try it out. Got nothing to lose, except maybe 5 minutes of ur life. Lol

Yeah you are right. I was thinking the same this morning. I installed the 1103 wireless recently so perhaps I didn't loosened it then...

edit: I reseated the connector and it was indeed loose. It works now. Well on the first boot up at least :)
