I just noticed a tiny (Pin head) chip/scratch on the side of my lid. It is under warranty, and covered for accidental damage too,, but as its so tiny I feel they would either laugh or tell me where to go.

Thing is ,,Im a bit of a perfectionist and now Ive noticed it (wish i hadnt),, its anoying me, even tho you can only really see it in full daylight.

I was wondering if i could touch it up with something? When i run my finger nale over it ,, it catches a little so there is a little nick out of the laquer too, so i guess it could get worse.

Like i said its really tiny but as the lid is black and the chip is white , AND I KNOW where it is Iwould like to get rid of it if possible

Anyone ever touched up a scratch / chip or have any recommendation?

I have had to touch up paint twice. Once on my M15x (which is now dead) and once on my M17x.

On my M15x the tech made a pinhole chip on the paint. It was visable as it was grayish/white against the nebula red. I used a red permanent marker to cover up this pinhole chip. It worked like charm and it was not visable at all.

On my M17x the paint got a pinhole mark underneath the computer as the tech carelessly dumped my computer on a screw that was on the table. The mark was very small (pinhole size). The paint exposed on my M17x was different than on my M15x. The M15x exposed a gray/white chassi, whereas the M17x had a "glittering" silver aluminium chassi exposed under the red paint.

My M17x cost me almost double of what my M15x cost. It made me furious with anger when i noticed the pinhole that the tech made on my brand new M17x, yet I did not have the guts to complain about it as I thought they would laugh at me. Once again I took my red permanent marker and painted over it. After using the permanet marker, the pinhole became 100% invisible (most people would not have seen it anyway as it was underneath the computer near the vent).

    Summary
    1) You can call Dell and see what they say, it is worth a try.
    2) You can do what I did and use a permanent marker (black instead of red, as your computer is black). It will most likely make the pinhole mark 100% invisible. It worked great for me on both the M15x and M17x.

I hope this solves your problem ;)

    Have a great day!

You could get a small amount of automotive primer and lather it over the scratch then use a marker or some sort over it. I have another question, are users easily able to get a replacement chassis using the NBD warranty?

Gotta ask, Widezu69. How do you break a chassis in a way covered by the standard warranty?
