Hi!
I have a big problem with my M14X
It's starts smoothly, run through BIOS and stops with black screen
I can not boot from any device [checked cd, usb key, hd, even floppy drive lol]
(BIOS seeing HD and DVD drive, in boot menu [f12] I can see usb key and floppy too]
It's checking all devices at the start, but looks like loosing ability
to connect with any of them after whole BIOS sequence is done.
Therefore I can't flash BIOS [looks like this is the problem]
any ideas or will I have to replace B chip?
THANK YOU for any help!

I would recommend disconnecting all devices from your laptop and trying again. I seem to recall and issue where this would occur with certain devices. If the issue does not resolve, i would recommend removing one stick of memory at a time and trying again.
Order of Things to try:
(Never removed hardware without powering down safely and removing the battery)
1. Disconnect all devices and try again.
2. Remove one stick of memory at a time and try again.
3. Remove the hard drive and try other bootable media.
If all fails, you may be exeriencing an issue with the motherboard and you will have to call support.
Thanks,

I have tried everything, any configurations, with different HD, RAM etc. Right now naked MB sitting there and laughing at me :/ -
When you say it starts "smoothly" what does that mean? Can you get into the BIOS setup screen? Except for the error message, it sounds like you have the bad boot block in the BIOS, which is what happend when Dell distributed that bad BIOS a few years ago. Basically the computer does not know "how" to boot. Did this happen spontaneously, or what were you doing before this happend?

I can enter BIOS, smoothly => whole post passing without errors, he recognise HD, RAM, Processor etc, and halt at the end with error as above.
I get it in this state [brought it cheap as faulty ]
Anyway I just ordered new eeprom so I will let you know what the situation is in few days [RM hurry up please ] -
I had to get a motherboard replaced due to the bad BIOS flash . How hard was it to find a BIOS chip for the M15x, did you find the exact one, or did you just get a generic EPROM are going to try to externally write to it? (just curious). Thanks!
